I think we will come out fine. I haven't been able to figure out why Dr. Kramer didn't get it perfect with my implant because he's the go-to guy for other doctors, serious revisions and so forth. His body of work is immense. He did leave me with NO scrotal swelling and properly placed cylinders. It's just the pump is too high and to the left. Dr. Knoll is confident he will fix it easily. Dr. Kramer referred to it as a 5-minute procedure.
So, hopefully, this time I'll get it right. You will do fine too. Prayer for you too.
62 years old. ED for years. High BP and meds have done me in. AMS 700 CX /3.0 cm RTE Implanted by Andrew Kramer on 10/12/16. Involved revision to relocate tubes and pump performed 12/29/16 by Dr. Knoll of Nashville, TN.
Re: My Implant Journal
I am surprised we do not hear of the reservoir "dropping" all the time. They rip out a hole with scissors or their finger to shove it through and in the the 50 or so videos of implant surgeries I've watched they have never 1 time sewn the hole shut to keep it from slipping out. I am sure they are counting on the fill of the reservoir making it bigger than the hole but it does not seem to make good sense when compared to how an hernia works and is repaired, at least to me. Hope it goes well this time! Sometimes when pumped up very tight I can feel the taper at the end of my reservoir tubing where it connects to the reservoir. Feels slightly ribbed, I assume to help keep it from moving. I often wonder it I pump all the fluid out of it if it would pop through the hole if I could pull the tubing. Hope to never find out.

Re: My Implant Journal
I don't understand the whole "reservoir placement" thing. Dr. Kramer states in my video that he's putting the reservoir to the left because he doesn't want me to feel it or have any kind of discomfort or issue with it. I wonder if that is why my pump is hanging to the left.

Agreed Stricck!! I can imagine all kinds of issues a reservoir dropped out of place can cause.

Re: My Implant Journal
Hello Strickk
I am scheduled for a revision in the new year. I had my implant about 1 1/2 years ago and my reservoir is also herniated, or dropped out of place. It sits right up against the the right side of my penis and and into my pubic mound and forms a large bulge which interferes with sex. The revision procedure is very much like an hernia repair, which is what it really is. The reservoir will be placed either back in the space of Retzius or ectopically behind the abdominal muscles. I don't believe it is a 5 minute job though. Maybe to actually put it back in place and stitch the opening once the surgeon has opened the area up might take 5 minutes. I will spend one night in the hospital with antibiotic drips and some pain meds. It will be sort of like an infra pubic operation really only just dealing with the reservoir. Much simpler than the whole implant though.
The implant does work and the bulge does soften and reduce in size a little as the saline leaves the reservoir, but still, it needs to be fixed and the surgeon agrees.
Best of luck with your revision

Hi Joe456
Speaking from personal experience, a herniated reservoir is not a desirable situation. The reservoir, if it is in its proper place, should be virtually undetectable and cause no discomfort. My herniated reservoir is causing a large bulge in the side of my groin which IS uncomfortable and I need to be a little careful while moving around so that it doesn't get squished too much.
One of my options is to do nothing. After all the implant does work. BUT the bulge, being right beside my penis, seriously interferes with intercourse and why did I get the implant in the first place? Right, to have intercourse again. So, yes, from a number of standpoints it is a big deal.
If you have not received an implant yet, I hope that the experiences related here on FT will help inform and guide you in making your decision. If you have an implant and all is well, congratulations on your decision. Perhaps, reading the experiences of others who were not quite so fortunate and have issues, might inspire you to have a little compassion and understanding for their problems. If you have an implant and all is not well, I invite you to share your story with us. We will gladly listen, er ...read!
All the best Joe456
