Do you pump up to maximum hardness for intercourse? If so try about 80 percent of maximum pumps

I've heard of guys not pumping all the way up for intercourse. I'm not really sure exactly how far I pumped because I'm still learning, but no I don't think I pumped max. I can usually push a few more than I used.

YMMV (Your mileage may vary)

What is left out of most of posts (on this thread and on others) is the medical history that might help to explain individual variations in post-op results.

How long a man was impotent, and the extent of the erectile dysfunction is a major contributor to post-op soreness. Existence of scar tissue or Peyronie's disease is another. How much the inplant was left inflated post-op, pubic or scrotal incision (or both) and when in the post-op recovery period first activation-and how extensive- occurred or prior surgeries. Any and all of these may have significant effect on post-op discomfort as well as ultimate size and satisfaction.

Read this paper on how a couple of months of preparation by vacuum can make a significant differentce
Vacuum Preparation
http://file.scirp.org/pdf/ASM_2013012514045982.pdf
Suggests that pre0op prep can 1) reduce post-op pain, 2) reduce post-op recover time and 3) make insertion easier as well as 4) the original focus on minimizing loss of length.

Another paper studied how early activation can make a significant difference, too. A couple of weeks to a couple of months. The "couple of weeks" group of men hurt earlier, but much less than the "couple of months" group of men. I expect the (early) scar tissue capsule formation (the name "coffin effect" was, I suspect chosen advisedly) and the limits it places on comfort as the capsule is broken up by inflation is important. I do not have an implant (yet), but the experience I had breaking up scar tissue after my shoulder surgery agrees with this paper:
Penile size after prosthesis implant, “the pseudo-capsule coffin effect”: how to prevent penile retraction after implant of three-component inflatable prosthesis
http://nazionale2013.auro.it/abstract/p ... rosthesis/
Again, this article focused on size, but there is significant implication about comfort level differences between the two subject groups.

So, guys, please, whether you had significant post-op troubles or none at all, clue us in on some of the factors that might have affected your experience.

How long since your last regular full-on erections before the surgery?

Did you have significant shrinkage from your fully erectilely functionsl size to your pre-op size (stretch test, vacuum, injection, pills, suppository)?

Did you follow any pre-op stretching protocol? (Please describe in detail)

Residual inflation left my your surgeon (none, 20%, 80%?) and the size (length and girth ) and how that compared to your pre-op size and ultimate post-op size.

Was the surgery particularly traumatic? (Best clue is post-op swelling that went down over the following two weeks.

Those are questions that just off the top of my head obviously would affect post-op results.

Thanks

How long a man was impotent, and the extent of the erectile dysfunction is a major contributor to post-op soreness.

I dealt with ED for years. Taking Yohimbine initially, then Viagra/Cialis, then injections. All stopped working. I develope Peyronies during the time after starting injections and it was within a year of getting an implant.

Existence of scar tissue or Peyronie's disease is another.

My local urologist saw some moderate amount of scar tissue in one place.

How much the inplant was left inflated post-op, pubic or scrotal incision (or both) and when in the post-op recovery period first activation-and how extensive- occurred or prior surgeries. Any and all of these may have significant effect on post-op discomfort as well as ultimate size and satisfaction.

My implant was left at 20% inflation and surgery was scrotal. My activation was hardly anything. The doctor had me pump a little, he checked the head and made sure I could deflate properly.

Another paper studied how early activation can make a significant difference, too.

I read one paper that tested early activation (2 weeks). The conclusion was that it was beneficial but impractical due to pain.

Did you follow any pre-op stretching protocol? (Please describe in detail)

Nope

Residual inflation left my your surgeon (none, 20%, 80%?) and the size (length and girth ) and how that compared to your pre-op size and ultimate post-op size.

20%. My preop and post op are similar. I may be a little shorter right now.

Was the surgery particularly traumatic? (Best clue is post-op swelling that went down over the following two weeks.

I had absolutely no swelling that I could detect. No scrotal swelling. If I had any, it would have been internal but I wasn't aware of any.

Those are questions that just off the top of my head obviously would affect post-op results.

Thanks

Lost Sheep,

I appreciate all the detailed information. You have been doing a lot more research than I did. I don't know if you want me to answer these questions too, but if you will read above, I have inserted my comments in italics bold.

jonbaldbg,

Thanks for sharing your information.

I could have had my surgery in August, but knowing there will be only one chance to get it right the first time, I elected to gather as much information as I could. Being in Alaska with few choices available to me i am doing the best I can to help myself and to share that help here where I can, as this forum has been a wealth of real-wrorld information to supplement the medical journal information I have been able to find over the internet.

Your experience definitely confirms what I have read in the journals.

I did choose to embark on a pre-op conditioning regimen and trust that will make insertion and recovery easier. The early activation can be problematic, because of the pain involved, but the study I found (which I think may be the same one you read) did indicate that if he pain is bearable, it is worth it. Hopefully the pre-op vacuum prep will make the post-op early inflation more bearable.
