Dealing with revisions

Im almost 37, and have been dealin with ED for over 8 years. So far Cialis worked well and is now starting to get unreliable. I'm also dealing with depression and that might be the reason. This is why I need a solution for ED which is unaffected by any mental issues such as depression, or lack of libido or performance anxiety. I read that even injectionslike Trimix are not fully independent from mental issues, which is why implants looked like just the thing I was looking for, and I was very strongly considering it and researched it a lot. One thing turned me off from it though. I learned that an implant on average lasts for about 10 years, and sometimes much less if you get unlucky. This means all you implant users are on average going under the knife for a revision every 10 years? Can you guys confirm that this is infact true?

I'm thinking its one thing to get operated once and praying nothing goes wrong. But doing it every few years means there is much higher risk of something going wrong resulting in giving up sex for good. So the question is, does it make sense to risk a huge screwup if pills and injections are still (unreliably) working with their sideeffects.

I'm also keen to know if there is anyone here who got implanted despite pills and/or injections still somewhat working and how they feel about their decision to get implpanted afterwards.

Just to clarify, if a person is truly suffering from lack of libido then he has no desire for sex - that's the definition of lack of libido. I have an implant myself (2008), and had a stroke that totally wiped out my libido. As a result I have had no desire at all for sex and have never used the implant.

I understand what it means. To me lack of libido isn't exactly a binary thing. I think you are confusing it for "complete lack of libido" while I meant to write "lack of sufficient libido". And sometimes even if you have no desire at all it might be necessary to keep your partner happy. Not that that is an issue for me, but its good to have options.

I see what you mean. My wife was not in favor of me getting the implant - she wasn't actively opposed to it, but thought it was foolish and unnecessary. So for me, satisfying a partner was not an issue.

So going back to the original question, do you have concerns about revisions every 10 years or so? Did pills and/or injections work for you before you got the implant? Do you ever regret getting it?

Well, since mine is not in use, if it should malfunction I would just ignore it unless there were some medical reason to have it removed. When I got it Dr. Kramer said it should last 15 years or so. I got it after pills stopped working and injections failed to work at all. I don't regret having it, but if I'd known how life was going to turn out I obviously wouldn't have gotten it. But mine is not a typical story - with the exception of a few poor outcomes and plain bad luck, most men are delighted with their implants and are thrilled to have their sex lives back.

If you get implanted at your age, yes you will probably have to have a few revisions during your lifetime. As far as risking "something going wrong resulting in giving up sex for good" this is rare.
Revisions in general are easier to recover from than the original surgery. There is a higher risk of infection though. If and when you are ready to take the plunge, I highly recommend going with a top surgeon.

I'm 63 this month. I hope this is the only implant I will ever need. Would I do it again...........In a heartbeat! Doc didn't say sex 3 times a week would effect it's life span! Oh well, I ain't cutting back.

I'm almost in the same situation as yours. I'm 30, pills still work, but i hate their side effects. I posted the same question in this sectiion. Well in some interviews on youtube Dr. Eid (top surgeon in new york) says that the implant lasts 10 years if used ONCE a week. That scares me a lot, because I know, that if I had an Implant, I would be using it 7 times a week, just to recover the lost time (8 years of ED).
