Implant Doctor

Postby leesburg2013 » Tue Jan 10, 2017 11:09 am

Last week I had an appointment with my new urologist Dr. Ashley Tapscott, Carolina Urology Partners. Just moved to Lake Norman, NC. I made an appointment to get a PSA done and renewal of my QuadMix (70/30/3/0.15). She was concerned how the injection was doing and how hard were my erections. I explained how the quadmix used keep my erection hard to 2 hrs and erection occurred without massaging ( this was 2-3 yrs ago) and now it last maybe 15-20 minutes and only 60% hard (if that).

She felt I should really consider implant and started in-length conversation. She did a quick check of my penis and said it absolutely should be a Coloplast. She said she has done 9 in last month and 50 for the year.

So I have many questions but first wanted to know if anyone had ever heard of Dr. Tapscott and if anyone ever used her for implant surgery.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

How can a Dr. check out your dick and say definitely any brand? :( I compared both and chose AMS after hearing pros and cons. I love my AMS! :) Others love their Titans (Coloplast). 8-) Check out bionic brothers stories and decide for yourself. Ask Dr. about AMS and why you should 'definitely' have a Titan. Then decide.

Leesburg:
my take is to carefully select your surgeon and then leave decisions about anaesthetic, brand of implant, hospital, prosthesis length, overnight stay, etc. to the doc. i was concerned about getting the doc out of their comfort zone. Like you, after doing my research I favored the AMS LGX. My doc examined me and recommended the Titan. We went with it and am very happy after a year. Don't have any info on that particular doc. Fifty implants in a year would qualify as a very experienced implant doc.

Thank you tremendously for such quick responses. She did bring me back for 2nd appointment and did a Doppler exam and results showed 20% leakage. She also mentioned that she would use the AMS LGX if I preferred. She also said if I was not comfortable with her she would recommend me to a Dr. Perito in Fla, whom she knows well. Gave me two guys in Lake Norman/Charlotte area who she implanted coloplasts to call.

Only thing that kind of concerned me was how much she wanted to do implant on me. I mean I went to her for PSA test which was 4.9 but at end of Doppler exam I had to ask her about my test results. She wasn't even going to bring it up until I asked.

Leesburg: An additional thought. While my wife and I are very happy with our implant, don't let a doc rush you into one. If anything else works satisfactorily, stick with it until it is too inconsistent or too much hassle. that said, we agonized for a year before getting it and we should have done it sooner. If your going to get an implant, get it on your terms.

Absolutely, only have surgery when you're ready.

I had no other option because I had nerve damage. The pills didn't work. I did the shots and after a short while my penis bent and I stopped those. That only left VED but I hated it and would never use it for sex. I had surgery three months ago with Dr. Kramer in Baltimore. It went great but I had to come to surgery on my own terms. Don't let any doctor talk you into any surgery you're not 100% sure about.

It sounds to me like your doctor is putting the cart in front of the horse. What about that PSA of 4.9?
I am sixty-six years of age and dealing with gradually worsening ED for twenty years. At sixty-three I wanted something that worked reliably. I got an AMS 700 LGX implant in 6/25/13. I am entirely pleased with the outcome. My surgeon was Dr. Karpman.

The 4.9 PSA could be a disaster in the making, or maybe not. My PSA has run between 4 and 9 for over 20 years. I have had two biopsies, and both were completely benign. Go figure. A biopsy may well be in order, but the 4.9 isn't necessarily of itself the end of his prostate.

Go AMS as much more natural when flaccid. If you want to walk around with a small erection, Titan is your choice. My AMS points at 3o'clock when flaccid and I do have women look when wearing gym shorts. Read up on Dr. Kramer and you will select him as one of the best if not the best.
Implanted March 2nd by Dr. Kramer with AMS/LGX. Had a problem lower left (scar tissue) and he placed a larger (thicker) implant as you can here on the YouTube video. Got all back, ED over 10 years before Implant.
