Dr. Eid's 10 year guarantee??
Re: Dr. Eid's 10 year guarantee??
Have any of you actually benefited from Dr. Eid's free replacement surgery yet? Or is the 10 year guarantee something that he has just recently started offering?
Re: Dr. Eid's 10 year guarantee??
Do not know anyone who has needed guarantee replacement but tonight I conversed with a person who told me he had the guarantee a year ago when he was implanted by Eid and he understood it covered which ever model he installed plus surgeons fees. Did not cover anesthesia.
In all this sounds like a smart move by Eid. Besides stirring up more business, it reduces the chance of a lawsuit if an issue arises giving him a chance to make it right. It also gives him a chance to see what the issue is rather than take the word of a competitor and possibly improve the surgical technique or suggest product improvement changes. Considering the high esteem given Eid's work, I am sure he looks at this like I would. Research. He did not get to be top doc drooling in street corner. Many techniques used by other doctors were developed by him. I do not know if the info is available any more but besides no touch, there was blunt end hooks, and the way he buries the pump tubing dissecting in a way that preserves tissue to do it. Last Kramer videos I saw did not have closed captioning so I've missed whether he has techniques of his own which I am sure he does.

Many of us do need replacement implants (20% of implants will fail within the first five years). But unfortunately the surgeon who did my implant five years ago doesn't have any such free replacement guarantee (free device and free surgery) like Eid does.
Yes, I also agree that it is a smart business move on Eid's part, especially now that the number of men opting for implants is only 50% of what it was just 10 years ago (even though ED is actually increasing every year). More and more surgeons are scrambling for the fewer and fewer patients seeking implants, and it will be necessary for these surgeons to offer some value added service if they hope to remain competitive.
I would not be surprised to see other surgeons following Eid's lead by offering free surgery for any patient needing a replacement within 10 years.

I am not sure that fewer men are choosing and implant. More likely more insurances are refusing, stalling and making people jump through hoops to protect stockholder profits and many men just give up rather than mortgage their house and for back to work in their senior days. $70,000 for an implant is not unusual with some doctors and facilities when you have to pay your own. My insurance paid $71,000. Not everyone has the fight in them to find a doctor, hospital, insurance that all will work and 2 years fighting to get it done like I and many others here did. Doctors are not always proactive either. I've had many tell me you are just getting old, everyone has ED or you have a lot of health problems, just move on with your life like normal people do. Not everyone is ready to sit on the porch. Not everyone has the mindset that ED is normal so I just will forget about that aspect of my life. I certainly was not. The story/study may be as much insurance propaganda to reduce the number of implants they pay for as other hype that tries to sell everyone drugs and botox they don't need. Path goes both ways. A lawyer friend told me about stories that were being published about a medicine siting serious side effects in a study. The insurance company had paid for the study and was sending it to magazines and papers because so many people were requesting that med that it was costing them a lot more money than they previously planned. Nothing was really wrong with the medicine except the insurance companies did not want to pay for it. Somebody finances every study.

Can't remember from the top of my head the exact sum I paid (self-pay) Eid, but it was in the range of 20-25 KUSD.
And, to connect to the title of the thread, I did get the guarantees as well. Life time on the implant from Coloplast, and 10 years on Eid's work. The latter guarantee is for all Eid's fees, not the hospital fees. If I remember correctly.

Barnes hospital demanded a $30,000 cash deposit or irrevocable letter of credit from my bank to schedule. Vanderbilt in Nasheville was worse. Insurance refused to give them anything except a letter stating the diagnostic codes were covered by the policy. I think Eid's office quoted me around $28k a couple years back but that did not cover travel, meals, a week motel stay, lab testing that is NOT covered by insurance and part of the package and few other little bits. Pockie and Merrix both sent me a listing of all their expenses other than travel that merrix did not have the number on. Both were better than the $40,000 we added up to cost. Both found cheaper transpo in NY than Eids secretary gave us, closer accomodations and a lower rate. There were a couple posts here this summer self pay quoted in the $20's and when they got bills in the $40k and $60k range. I posted the bills long ago here what my insurance paid and it was a shade over $71,000. All doctors will tell you that pricing is for a simple implant without complications or issues. Perito's office and the gal that works for Kramer will tell you that peronies or other issues that up surgery time will up the bill. I forgot the guy's name at the moment who had cancer as a kid and the reconstruction after Kramer could not do his implant. He was self pay and both of his bills were double the quote. Look it up. He is paying on a $40k bill on the first one and negotiated I think it was down to $44 on the second one. Quotes are for simple standard proceedures, come with asterisks and open ends. Before I found out that U of Maryland Medical Center had a falling out with United Healthcare, Kramer's gal told me my revision could run as high as $60k depending on the time it took in surgery to get everything taken care of. Hospital costs and doctors fees go up in time. Both doctors are VERY generous taking extra time when needed but the hospitals and anesthesiologists are not generous billing as usual. I forget the billing intervals Vanderbilt had but it was like per minute or per 5 minutes or some such on the bill. I did the math at the time to figure out what some of the charges were per second.
