I am only 8 weeks post op, so I cannot answer a long term question. I will say that at 3 weeks when I first pumped, I had lost almost 2 inches in length, and the girth was larger. The girth turned out to be swelling. I know exactly what my length was before I lost all function; I think most men do. I also knew exactly the girth. Was I bothered by this? No, not really, and that was for a couple of reasons. First, for the last 2 1/2 years, I have had no function of any kind. It was limper that overcooked lasagna, and just as cold as if I had pulled it out of the refrigerator, so how could I complain. When the swelling went away, all I could do was laugh, and say "At least it is cute"
Still, I did long for the good old days, and based on the size of the implant that Dr. Kramer used, my calculations indicated that the final length would be somewhere between 1 inch shorter and 1/3 inch longer that I had once upon a time. I've also heard that the girth tends to be larger, so obviously I just needed to work on it, and work my way through the pain.
My pain has been substantially worse than most when pumping, for a very unusual reason. The reason for my ED was the result of a surgery which removed my rectum, and I apparently have quite a bit of scar tissue just behind where the base of the cylinders sit. I can stay inflated for about a half hour now before the pain in the rectum brings tears to my eyes. I have spoken with other urologists, and none have heard of this issue, so don't worry about that one, it sounds as though it is unique to me.
The bottom line is, even though pumping brings tears to my eyes, it takes longer for those tears to come. At first it was a few minutes, then it was 5, then 10 and 15, now it is closer to a half hour. The stretching pain is, I believe, quite normal, and that also has to be worked through. The current result is that by not deflating until it has stayed hard for an increasing length of time, now 30 minutes, everything seems to be changing for the better. It is faster and easier to inflate, and the measured length has gotten longer.
I am now within 1/2 inch of my original length after only 8 weeks. The girth is still noticeably less, but I honestly believe it will be getting better soon. As much discomfort as I feel with the stretching, obviously something is happening down there. It does seem strange that my penis is more oval shaped now that it was before. When it used to work, it was quite round.
I would not want to have sex with it fully inflated; it just does not seem to be natural; much too hard. I have found that if I inflate it somewhat less than full, it feels much more natural. I don't want it to hurt me if my wife moves, nor do I want to hurt her with the incredible hardness, with no sensation of cushioning around the cylinders. I am planning our first encounter in about 10 days. I am only going to inflate it enough to where it feels firm, but not rock hard. When I do this, I also have much more of a natural sensation of pleasure.
Until we have that first encounter, I am going to keep pumping up as far as I can, grit my teeth and bear it, getting as much stretch as I can. It is too soon to tell really, but it seems that when I do this, and then pump less, that the girth has a fuller feel. Wish me luck guys; I think everything is going be be well worth it very soon.
