Newby from south texas
Hello my name is Johnny. I am the facilitator for UsToo Alamo Chapter prostate cancer support group in SanAntonio. I am retired from the Kroger Co. I worked 41 years in the drug and grocery business. I am currently involved in the family cattle feeding business. I had prostate cancer in 2000,had surgery and PSA less that .01 every since. There are 93 men in my group and unfortunately growing in numbers. After my surgery I had ED and went from pump, pills, injections of quad mix to finally getting the implant Aug 2008. I only wish Blue C BS would have been more helpful in my cancer journey and had to wait 8 years for medicare. I hope to learn more from here and maybe I can be of help also. Johnny

Hi Johnny, Welcome to FT. Your journey sounds so familiar. I also had PCa and have not had much help from BCBS insurance. I am lucky that the injections are working but like you will have to wait for medicare. Im just 60 now so 5 more years of sticking.

68 years old, Married 48 years. Prostate Cancer surgery 11 years ago. Tried Pills, VED, moved to injections (EdEx) for past 6 years. Implanted with AMS 700 LGX by Dr Hellstrom in New Orleans at Tulane Medical. 1/13/20

BCBS had fine print that ANY ED meds were excluded. I fought with them for 4 or 5 years to cover my implant. I had to wait until I was 65. These folks are in it for the money, dont ever think they really care about your quality of life. I was 57 at the time of my prostate cancer and had to wait 8 years. If you can get them to help you go for it . The implant is the way to go. Texas Johnny

hello everyone, i am new on here also, i am 69 have had ed now for a few years now went through takeing all the meds. but now after finding this site i am going to call my insurance witch is aarp secure horzions and see if they will cover the surgery, if they wont now is the time to switch back to regular medicare. i have to stay with secure horizons or change back to regular medicare this month. will let yall know who will pay as soon as i get ahold of them.

Medicare and my AARP covered all for my implant. You are headed in thee right direction. I have the AMS 700 MS and could not be happier with it. I still get angry every time I think about BCBS. I had ins with them for over 30 years and never used my policy until I had prostate cancer. They cover that and said goodby on the reconstruction part. They even had the balls to send me an application for their supp policy when I turned 65. I wouldnt have bought it from them even if they were offering it to me free.
