Revision "Sizing Up"?

My AMS 700 LGX failed after 8 years. The tubing between bulb and one of the cylinders gave out. Getting full revision next week. My question to the group is: Many of you mention getting "sized- up" on your revisions. My surgeon says my 18 + 2 RTE in correct size - doubts he will go to 21. We will know in surgery.

Do most "size-ups" occur due to:
1:incorrect sizing in your original surgery?
OR
2: is the "size-up" due to organ straightening and recovery from ED of your "born size" from the original implant?

Also- My Surgeon says that he will probably not take out the original reservoir - just the cylinders and the pump... I assume that the reservoir gets encapsulated, and is more prone to cause bleeding if removed.... am I correct it this thought?

A larger device is usually inserted during revisions. The implant stretches the penis over time.

Thanks for info on the sizing up question. I hope that he can put in the 21 cm AMS- so there are no RTE extenders as I have now on my 18+2.

Also - he says he might not take out the existing reservoir- That he might leave the old one in- I assume it might be encapsulated- and cause more bleeding removing it... we shall see on Thursday.

He says recovery time is better for revisions- I hope so... I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 8 years- but It's time for a new toy...

Well ..I just had my revision done yesterday. Got the icepacks on and taking it easy. The Dr sized me up from an 18 +2 RTE to a 21 AMS. Glad the AMS rep was in OR with all the sizes. I guess they will take the old one back to research department to figure out the failure with the tube..might have been OVERUSE (lol) during the past 8 years!! Very happy with my new surgeon.. he saw me 2 weeks ago, and fit me in schedule ASAP. Was in hospital for 14 hours..glad I stayed in recovery room all afternoon.

I had my revision done on Thursday AM. Pretty black and blue from the removal of busted device and reservoir and new insertion. Kept ice packs on for 3 days..
Is there any point in still using ice on day 4 to reduce swelling and bruising?
Just taking Aleve since Friday night.
