Needle Gauge

Postby dtwarren1942 » Sat Oct 08, 2011 10:57 pm

I am a diabetic so when I started my injections, I started using a 5/16 31 gauge needle which I had been using for insulin and , for the most part, everything has worked well except I need to change needles every third time I use it. When injecting insulin into my love handles I can go for 20 plus times before it becomes uncomfortable and I need to start a new needle.

I am assuming the smooth muscle of the CC chamber is tougher than plain fat in my love handles which explains the need for more frequent needle changes when injecting my penis.

That being said, I just read on a diabetes forum, that some people are using a 32 gauge needle for insulin injections which make the injections virtually painless. I was wondering if any of you guys have used a 32 gauge needle and if it is strong enough to penetrate the smooth muscle of CC chamber?

DT,

I've got to tell you: re-using an insulin needle is dubious at best. Every piece of information I have ever seen on my insulin needles or needle tips says DO NOT REUSE. I'm stunned that you're doing that. As iffy as that may be, re-using a trimix needle is asking for disaster. And I mean disaster. An infection in the fatty tissue of your mid-section is one thing. You may have had one or more of those and never even noticed. An infection in the spongy tissue of the penile shaft is something you don't even want to think about. Whatever guage you settle on, please use a new needle every time.

Your caution regarding penile injections is duly noted. However, as far as insulin injections are concerned, I have been reusing insulin needles multiple times for eighteen years without a problem. If you go on a diabetes forum, you will find I am definitely not alone.

I would never reuse a needle for injecting but that is not answering your question. I do use a 31G for my Trimix and you do have to be careful but it is painless. Hope that this asnwers your question.

I guess I didn't make my specific question clear enough. Is any one using or have a comment on a 32 gauge needle? It is available and should be even more painless than the 31 gauge, but it may not be strong enough to penetrate the CC muscle. I have bent my 31 gauge needle on two occasions.

That is a great question and I think you may be right the 32 might just be too thin. I have had a needle bend as well. We must be careful. :)

If my local pharmacy carries them, I guess I will have to spring for the smallest quantity available and test it and report back.

At some point there is a danger of a needle breaking off when inserted !!!
I don't know what gauge that would be but my assumption is that 31 ga. is the smallest that can me used safely.
I sure would NOT want to make a trip to the ER to have them start carving on my dick to retrieve 1/2 a needle. OWIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I also use 31 gauge insulin needles as well. Work well for me.

DT, I think you're OK reusing your needles. I've read the same thing as 'Antelope' about to not reuse your needles. I believe the concern about reusing needles is reuse among your 'infected friends'. Probably hard to infect yourself with your own germs. For those concerned, you might want to consider rinsing your needle in alcohol.

'Antelope', if you read this message, I'm looking forward to chatting w/you in the chat room. Cum on over
