Decided On Implant

Yesterday during my appointment with urologist I made the decision to get an implant. I'm going to get AMS700. Waiting for scheduling to call and also billing. I have Medicare with a supplemental so I should be getting this for free. I'm glad I made the decision and happy I won't have to inject myself any longer. My urologist will be performing the surgery. I have all the confidence in him, he doesn't perform as many as Kramer and Eid but he does approximately 15 per month.

Any suggestions from the brotherhood will be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the surgeon has a good track record of doing enough implants to be called proficient on this area. This is too important to be left to an inexperienced professional. Even the so-called high volume implant surgeons can sadly leave you with unsatisfactory results, and do not accept they made mistakes.

Good for you! I don't have any suggestions as I have not had one yet. But I have finally decided to go for one. But for me, it comes down to money. I just turned 62, not yet retired. I have Blue Cross through the state, but I don't know what they will pay yet. I'm waiting for the doctor to get back to me on that. Good luck, keep us posted on your progress!

I think everyone should talk with a satisfied patient (or patients) of the prosthetic urologist who will be putting in your implant. (In my case the patient I spoke with was very old-fashioned and spoke in polite euphemisms -- like saying "doing your husbandly duty" to mean "having sex," but he still was helpful. In my own case I have no problem speaking openly about my penis and what I do with it, which I have done with several men over the years.)

Congratulations on your decision to get your implant. It will change your life forever. I have no regrets about my decision. Confidence in your surgeon is major. Ask questions. See and feel an implant if possible. I wish I had. AMS great choice. Please keep us posted or start your own thread. Pictures (before and after and recovering) would be awesome.

My wife passed before I learned about implants and I regret that everyday that my doctors didn't let me know I had choices. You may look back on the times you wanted to do something and regret you couldn't. Dr. Kramer was and is the best so if you can, speak with him and see what you think. Dr. Eid is also one of the best. Me, I went with Dr. kramer after reading as much as I could here and watching his videos. There are some things that Dr. Eid does I didn't want and with Dr. Kramer I drove back to NC from Baltimore on the Saturday following surgery.

Good for you Im getting my implant June 1 by Dr Brock. He does 20 a month.
