Hey guys,
I am back to asking this question to most current members. I think it's important, especially with many younger members on Franktalk of late thinking of getting an implant and posting often
I like to exercise a lot. For example I like to go for a 5-10 km jog almost every day and do weight lifting in moderation. Anyone know if this adds wear and tear to the implant or could increase the chances of needing a revision in the next 5-10 years?
Funny
exercising with implant
Re: exercising with implant
i was told by my implant surgeon that there is no exercise limitation.
I lift weights almost every day, and I use the rowing ergometer 35 minutes a day. No problems.
When I asked my surgeon (Eid) about how the implants fail, he said that there is nothing diferent that I should do in terms of behavior. He stated that the failure point is material fatigue of the tubing near the pump due to too much bending from having the pump move up and down while inflating, so he recommends that I use hand positions in a manner to be sure that the pump stays still (interms of gross vertical moves) while squeezing the pump ball.

(63 yo, Titan 22cm implant Feb 2017 by Dr Eid) I'm super pleased with my length/girth/implant performance. See my story at "The road to becoming a bionic male: Answers ..."

every doctor that has put sutures in me has said NO HEAVY LIFTING until your stitches are gone. I am pretty sure you should fine with everything else.

Re: exercising with implant
What about baseball and softball? Anyone here play these sports with an implant? If I get one, should I get a bigger cup and tell the coach I can no longer play catcher?
I read that you can swim with them too. That is nice, since I like to swim at the health club.

Re: exercising with implant
clarification:
a) "i did light gym activity at around day 7 -- might have been a little too early "
b) "I pursued medium vigorous exercise in the gym 14 days after surgery and once the sutures were out"
c) "I advanced to Full throttle exercise at 3 weeks."
with regards to baseball and softball---yes, of course, no problem. and the implant will fit into the protective catchers cup.
Jogging --- no problem
motorcycle -- probably OK (but i do not do that)
Bicycle -- might be an issue depending on your pump location. My pump is way far back in the scrotum, so a woman will have a hard time finding it; but that might have been at the expense of making siitting on a hard racing bike seat problematic. If biking is your thing, tell you surgeon, and you might opt for a pump location that is more forward and beween the balls (in which case, I am sure biking will be fine since your balls are fine during biking -- right ?)
Swimming--no problem, however the girls might pay more attention to you if you wear a speedo (just sayin )

Re: exercising with implant
I dont even think about the implant after 2 years now. I can bicycle, jog, lift, work around the house lifting large boulders out of my tractor bucket etc and other than a bigger bulge in compression pants notice no difference from before implant. It is a non issue except when i want to use it and then I get a happy face.
66 year old with ED intermittently for years and consistently for the 2 years before implant. Tried everything. AMS CX 21cm+1 cm RTEs Dr Kramer 4/29/2015.
Revision 5/3/2021 AMS CX 700 21cm+2 cm RTEs.
Revision 2022 Titan XL 24 cm no RTEs.

Re: exercising with implant
RelievedofED1, you mean you don't mind having "a bigger bulge in compression pants"?
