Numb
Re: Numb
Torless, No, I must have misled you. The nerve was cut in the prostatectomy which left me unable to have an erection. I was able to use a penile pump and have an orgasm since all the sensory nerves were still fine. I was unable to have sex since the pump and constriction band did not create a hard enough shaft for insertion. So 4 weeks ago (4 years after the prostatectomy) I had the implant since the penis had continually shrunk until it had disappeared into the body completely. Now, with the implant, it is a normal size. I have not yet been released to use the pump to increase its size for intercourse, but I have healed enough to feel it with my hand and in doing so, I found the bottom is numb, which used to be my most erogenous area. I was afraid after 4 weeks, that any sensory nerves that were going to come back would have done so. One or two guys said that was not correct; one said it could take 6 months. I see the doctor in 3 days, and I will ask her.

The implant was done by cutting into my scrotum right at the base of my penis and going downwards toward the bottom of the sack. Apparently, they did everything through that hole in my scrotum, if that answers your question. Sorry, I'm new to this and don't know the terms.
Michael,
Now I understand you situation better. Honestly, I have not heard or experienced that level of numbness with peno scrotal approach. I would suggest to talk to the surgeon first.

I have read nerves can grow back but they take months for it
By the way you can masturbate now, you achieve the orgasm or similar?

Re: Numb
Torless, No, I cannot achieve orgasm through masturbation any more. I feel nothing in the numb areas and either pain or sensations similar to what I feel in my index finger everywhere else. Nothing that approaches an erogenous sensation. I was hoping that might change after the doctor tells me I can pump up the inflatable device beyond where it has been for the first 4 weeks of healing.

Re: Numb
Just a thought: ask your surgeon if they used any kind of nerve blocking injection, even if you were under general anesthesia. That may explain some long lasting numbness.

I think that is bullshit. Doctor kept telling me the nerves grow back but it will take 2 years from my no nerve sparing prostatectomy. Guess what? They never did ( 8 years now) nor did they for anyone else I talked to. MRI or Cat Scan, I forget which shows the ends with the clips on them laying in the pelvic floor and the other ends with clips on hanging where they were clipped off with everything else. Don't count on nerves growing. Spinal injuries would be a snap if they did. d

Re: Numb
Michael,
Take a look at this product, and talk about it with your surgeon. I had a problem with anorgasmia at one point in my life, and tried it while working on balancing my hormonal levels, and it helped accelerate the recovery process (http://www.urologyhealthstore.com/viber ... evice.html ). I am not making any endorsement, just sharing a personal experience, and how it worked on me, so consult with your doctor.
Hope this helps,

Re: Numb
Alibaba, I think we are talking about 2 different things. After my prostatectomy when they cut my erectile nerve(s), for the following 4 years I could still use a vibrator to have an orgasm (no ejaculation, of course) that was satisfying. Then I had my penile implant 4 weeks ago, and about a week ago the pain was little enough for me to try the vibrator again (since I am not allowed to pump up the implant yet). I was stunned at the fact that the bottom of my penis was numb now and the top part was either as insensitive as my index finger, or actually painful. Obviously no orgasm was going to be coming (pun intended). Except for the fact that I can now FIND my penis (it had essentially disappeared), I have lost my ability to at least pleasure myself. I guess I can use it for my wife when I pump it up, but I mistakenly told her it is not pleasurable and she said she's not going to use me like an inanimate dildo, now that she knows I won't feel anything. Very disappointed.

Re: Numb
Plumber, Wow nearly $400? Does health care cover any of that cost? I didn't see how it works with penile implants or with nerves that may have been cut beyond the spinal cord, but I won't cut off any avenue at this point. I haven't given up hope for regrowth or some sort of change to the top side of the penis that actually changes basic finger-like sensations combined with pain into some sort of pleasurable feeling.

Re: Numb
Michael,
I think I can provide very limited information about it, but its basic theory is that the stimulation will "awaken" the sensation nerve terminals. Again, I strongly suggest to discuss it with your surgeon since I used it before implant.
I am just trying to convey as much information as possible, or different options since I experienced anorgasmia in my late 30's, over 10 years before developing ED, and I know how frustrating is to have the ability to have an erection, having sex for close to an hour, satisfy your wife, and not being able to get even close to climax!!!
