Flying with an implant
Flying with an implant
I'm taking my grandson on a fishing trip next week on the Olympic peninsula and just realized I gotta go through that X-ray thing at the airport. Sounds like many of you have done some flying - did you have to explain your extra equipment?

Re: Flying with an implant
I'm flying tomorrow for the 1st time with my implant, so I'll let you know how it goes when I get home. However, I've flown several times since back surgery on May 25, 2016, and I have spacers between L2 and L5, along with 2 stainless rods and screws fusing. Have not had a problem, but I disclose it to security when I walk up.

Re: Flying with an implant
Thanks for sharing your experiences- looks like I'll probably be ok. I'm not concerned about telling them about my implant but I'm afraid my grandson would be mortified. continued safe travels to you all.

If concerned about someone overhearing your medical history you simply ask for privacy, for a medical issue. TSA is required their policy to accommodate privacy sensitivities.
