I am on alprostadil injections and dose between 30 and 40 micrograms which is a fairly high dose. The pain starts about 45 minutes in and lasts about 3 hours. Long after the med has lost its effectiveness to provide a full erection. I do want to try trimix or even better bimix if it would work since there is no alprostadil in bimix.
Anyway to answer your question. Any type of analgesic pain med could possibly help. Lowest on the list of analgesics is Tylenol. Could help. It has helped me a little. Of course narcotics would help more but not always worth the risk. Anti inflammatory meds might help but I don't think the pain is inflammation. Ice can also help.
I have read some say the pain lessons over time as you take more shots. I have taken over 40 injections and its been the same. It has worsened if I inject over a string of days. Went 4 days in a row and thought my Dick was going to fall off... it didn't, luckily.
If you ask you doc let us know what he says.
Caverject and pain
Re: Caverject and pain
Rico,
I've only injected once. 10 micrograms. Pain for 4 hours. Not fun. 4 hour boner as well. Will try to halve the dosage.

Wellick,
Ya reduce. If you can find a smaller amount you may greatly reduce or even eliminate the pain.
I think I always have some pain level, but sometimes it is small.
Lately I have been using 20u of my mix, rock hard over an hour and with pain.
If I use 15, I last less than an hour, but still long enough for most sex, and pain is not too bad.
So sometimes I go 15, sometimes 20. If I want a long sex session then I go 20. The pleasure helps to mask any pain

Re: Caverject and pain
I get more pain if I inject the meds too quickly. Once the needle is in the right place I inject in 4 or 5 little bursts waiting a couple seconds between each. My mix is pretty strong so that may be part of the problem but if I inject it slowly like that it helps a bunch. I then massage it in to help spread it around.

Re: Caverject and pain
Wellick,
Some people have said that they do use pain killers to try to reduce the ache.
I guess the question then would be what kind to use.
Start experimenting and let us all know ...
