You also might consider searching Dr. Karpman on this site. While I don't have personal experience with him, he seems to be spoken of highly on this site and I think he is on the west coast.

Mountain View Calif is where Dr Karpman is. UCLA is a LOT closer to the O.P., as Mtn View is near San Fransisco area.

Still, Dr. Karpman is lot closer than Dr Kramer.

I researched Dr Karpman after he was mentioned here, and I'm very impressed. I added him to my shortlist of surgeons to consider.

I'm still pondering the logistics of the surgery, but if I have to fly somewhere it doesn't matter much if it's Baltimore or Mountain View. That's the attraction of UCLA, stay overnight after the surgery and a 1 hour drive home.

Dr. Karpman did mine. I did a lot of research before choosing him. He's top notch. I had some complications 2 mos post op that were not related to the surgery. He was methodical and thorough every step of the way. PM me if you have questions or want more info

Yes, ppl I have spoken to in the past say Karpman is every bit as nice as Kramer and like him. I considered him at one point. Winter in NY vs Winter in CA. I took him off the list because of the extra time it would take to travel home after surgery being twice the distance. By all accounts a very nice guy. HIV and other afflictions were no big deal to him either.
