The implants are excluded in my policy so there is nothing that can be done about it. My doc set up a meeting with the implant rep to see if there are any finance type options to help me since that's the highest cost. I will pick up all the overtime I can get and my wife is going to get a part time job as well. It may take a few months or a year but I'm getting that damn implant!

Look into a Care Crédit card from you doctor. He can determine the interest rate. I would also reach out to another doctor to see if they can make a better case. Again call your state insurance commission

Keep the faith Jay. There will be a new healthcare bill soon. Let's hope for the best!

Wishing you all the luck in this totally f'd up world. At one time ( before Boston Scientific bought them) I think AMS did have several different payment plans.

BCBS paid for my IPP, my co-pay was less than $500.

BCBS, according to my doctor, is one of the more difficult insurances to get an IPP approved. Which means he had to put me through a battery of tests to prove I need an IPP because nothing else worked. It took several months but they approved it.

Unfortunately there are lots of BCBS plans and what applies to one plan may not apply to another.

Good luck.

Was told today they would not cover any part of the surgery and I will have to pay 20 grand out of pocket. What's worse is the city I work for changed insurance carriers this year and the last one covered implants. I feel like I got kicked in the damn nuts. If I can't secure a loan or get the hospital to work with me I'm screwed. Anybody know of any back alley implant doctors? :x

Maybe you can get your own insurance, from the place you had, or another one, that covers them and then dump them after the surgery. Then, years down the road, if it fails, it becomes a medically necessary problem instead of what they are probably considering cosmetic. Insurance companies have no problem screwing their customers, maybe it's time for a little payback, even if you have a 6 month waiting period. It would probably take that long to get in for surgery anyways. Just a thought. ;)
