ED since 35
Starting 12 years ago at age 35 I've had ED. It came on suddenly with no known cause. The only cause I can think of is extreme anxiety due to my personality and issues with raising kids with mental health issues like bipolar and OCD. Since it seemed to be anxiety related, I went straight to injections which were very effective. I started on Quadmix which I used for the first 5 years; but it was very expensive, at about $1,000.00 per six months. I then switched to Trimix at the common 10/1/30 dose. This worked great for the next 5 years allowing for an erection for 90 minutes which was sufficient time (about 0.18 cc or 18 units per dose). The last 2 years have been a gradual increase in Trimix (about 20% increase every 6 months) for a 60 minute erection. The last two months have been a rapid decline in effectiveness. I can use 10x my former dose but only have about 15 minutes with a marginal erection. Needless to say this is very disconcerting. I know there are stronger doses out there but I'm considering an implant. At first thought it seemed totally disturbing, but reading success stories on this site has made it a very encouraging possibility. Been browsing this site for years and appreciate knowing I'm not alone in this struggle. Not to diminish the disability of being blind, but I've often thought I'd rather be blind than have ED.
ED since 35 with no known cause -- injections successful for over a decade with 10/1/30 and less than 20units but that became ineffective. Implanted penoscratally by Dr. Kramer of Baltimore on 9/13/17 with AMS 700 LGX 21cm + 0.5cm RTE at 47 years old

Re: ED since 35
I injected for quite a while until the injections quit working. ED was from prostate cancer and related surgery. Had a good run for over ten years on injections, then suddenly they were no good. Got an implant and it has been much better.
Oh yes! WELCOME!
Hope to see your posts once and while. If you disappear after a successful implant, we will understand. You are often too busy after success to frequent the board.
Anyway, welcome.

Re: ED since 35
AirWolf, have you considered or tried adding a cock ring to the mix. I use one (Lyps novelty ring set) behind the boys and it allows me to use less units on injection than without. It might buy you some more time.

Re: ED since 35
Quad mix shouldn't cost nearly $1k for 6 months unless you don't have access to an out-of-state compounding pharmacy like Talon in Texas. They don't ship everywhere, but if they ship to your state (or country), try them. You'd look at about $122 shipped for 10ml.

Thanks for the comments and the welcome! I did ask my urologist about cock rings and he discouraged their use as he says it increases risks for blood clots. Maybe he's just being overly cautious. The quadmix was expensive because it was from a men's clinic and not from a compounding pharmacy.

You should probably follow your doctors advice.

Re: ED since 35
Have you spoken to your doctor(s) about the decrease in effectiveness? There could be several causes other than "you need to use more happy juice." Maybe it's time for a complete physical AND a full uro work-up. Make sure you fix what's broken before changing what not longer seems to work. All the best. Hope for hard times ahead.
Born 1948, wed 1969. BPH & Type II Diabetes at age 35. TURP-2002; ED even before that--diabetes. Cardiac valve surgery: 2007 & 2019. Poor results with pills. Started trimix injections in Nov, 2010. Great results from the very beginning.

Wise suggestion antelope!
I recently had my annual physical and nothing showed up
My urologist stated that this can happen (needing to increase dosage and strength) but I don't think he knows how much the quality of the erection has declined -- I'll have to speak to him further.
