I am 2 months post Titan implant. I find the pump extremely difficult to pump. Is that normal? I have to depress extremely hard with very little give. Does it get softer and easier to depress over time?
Any suggestions on how to fully deflate. After depressing the release valve you supposedly have 20 seconds to empty implants. I squeeze may penis as hard as possible bt it never feels fully deflated.

Re: Titan OTR Difficult to Pump and Release
The pump bulb AND the cylinders in you penis are very thick material. Over time (provided you work the parts daily) the pump will become much easier to compress (but will always have resistance). Initially, the cylinders are so stiff that you feel like you have a semi-erection all the time. Now, as far as the release valve. I have to depress the valve and hold it for several seconds to deflate, but if you don't compress your penis shaft with the other hand at the same time, it won't deflate all the way usually. Even deflated, you will notice more stiffness than pre-implant. After a very long time 1-2 years, it will probably soften up to near pre-implant stiffness, but it will still feel different.
I had mine implanted over a year ago, and today my penis gets as soft as it ever did, but it took A LOT of manipulation and flexing of the cylinders. I pumped mine SEVERAL times each day to absolute maximum (I put a two handed death grip on that pump bulb each time, and I'm a VERY strong man). When my penis is deflated now, it looks EXACTLY like it did before the implant.
That's what worked for me, but as usual, your mileage may vary... Happy Pumping....

Re: Titan OTR Difficult to Pump and Release
Hi Mstone,
I had my Titan implant this past June and it gets easier to pump every day! It will definitively soften up over time. I don't have the OTR so deflating is a little different for me. I too need to squeeze my penis while holding the release button or nothing happens.
Be patient, keep inflating and deflating every day and don't hesitate to call your doctor!
Jake in Chicago.

Jake --
Did you have your implant done in Chicago? If so, do you mind telling us who your surgeon was and what your experience with him/her was?
Thanks

Re: Titan OTR Difficult to Pump and Release
Thanks Hard Drive and Jake, that was very helpful. I needed the reinforcement. I actually was worried about depressing the pump to firmly but it sounds like what I have been experiencing is normal.
Thanks again

I don't think your can squeeze a Titan OTR bulb too hard with your bare hands, I have bone crushing hand strength and I've squeezed it as hard as I can hundreds of times . If something goes wrong from doing so, then it was probably a defective implant and needed to be corrected any way.

Re: Titan OTR Difficult to Pump and Release
The pump varies in firmness even between pumps. One pump I can feel it depress and the next pump the bulb can be as hard as a rock with no give. Is that normal?

Hi mstone,
Welcome to the Frank Talk Group.
December 13th will be the fourth anniversary of my Coloplast Titan Penile Implant Procedure.
As time passes, your body tissue grows around the components of the Titan (reservoir, penile tubes and pump) and it
just becomes a part of your body.
I became a Patient Educator for Coloplast in January 2008 in order to share my experiences both pre-implant and
post-implant and the dramatic effect it has had improving my and my wife's quality of life.
My experience has been that the Titan feels more and more natural as time passes and, eventually, just becomes a part of you. Different men heal at different rates, so be patient.
As correcrly suggested by other FT members, keep working the pump.
Remember how we broke in a new baseball glove when we were kids.
All the best with your Titan Implant.
Bob

Re: Titan OTR Difficult to Pump and Release
Thanks Bob, I was not fully deflating. I finally, with squeezing to the point of being very painful, was able to fully deflate. Since my penis and scrotum have been sensitive since the implant surgery I have been reluctant (another phrase for being a pussy) to be forceful with both inflation and deflation. I think that the key is to daily inflate and deflate with force until this thing starts to loosen up.
As usual Franktalk is an invaluable resource.

Re: Titan OTR Difficult to Pump and Release
MStone. Please see my posting on the Double-Handed Inflation Method. One day, about 5 weeks after my implant, I was having such a hard time inflating my new implant that I actually went to the garage and dug out a pair of large pliers. I brought them to the bathroom and then, thankfully, walked to my computer and signed on to FT. I asked a very similar question to yours.
Someone forwarded me the double-handed inflation method. So it's a page or so back, although if you respond to it you'll push it to the top of the discussionpile again for awhile. It might be nice to have it there as it seems that there are quite a few guys here who have "JUST" gone bionic. Hard times to ya'll guys!
The pumps are so hard to press in the beginning, especially when our sacs are already bruised from the surgury.
Hard luck to you too my friend, Keith
