implants actually performed by your surgeon

.University hospitals are training centres. They teach new doctors.
How many of you are 100% sure that your implants are actually done by your own surgeons with their own hands and not by one of his training interns/residents after you have been put to sleep under anaesthesia?

A relative working in an university teaching hospital told me according to her estimates, probably less than 10% of university hospital surgeries are actually performed by the teacher surgeons and the rest are usually done by his/her interns/residents. The only times that the surgeons do the procedure themselves are when the interns/residents are too new to do anything yet.

Just a thought since I have seen so many posts saying that his surgeon is world-renown and the best in the world-but was the operation actually done by himself/herself or really by one of his interns/residents. Does it matter that much when his hands does not even touch your part during the actual operation?

According to my surgeon in Dallas at a teaching hospital the often praised Dr. Kramer has residents in training do his surgeries under his supervision. Kramer works at a teaching hospital as well. My surgeon is a personal friend of Kramer as well as Dr Eid whom he refers to as Francois. It is a widespread practice to let you believe your doctor is doing your surgery when in fact he is there only guiding the trainee doctor.

ABSOLUTELY... If people listened to this nonsense, after the docs we have now die off, there will be no more out there to do our revisions.

If any profession is to survive those currently in that field must train the next generation. At some point the book learning has to be replaced with demonstration, supervised pratice and finally evaluation of procedures

Do you think all the videos the Dr produce that are in medical terms are for future patients? They are for students, residents and fellow surgerons to study their procedures , learn and modify current procedures. Yes they put tgem out for public view that is secondary.

And you have to remember, these residents are trying to impress and do their very best in front of the surgeon and/or professor. The would never get a scalpel in their hand had they not proved themselves skillful.
