So I emailed the Urologist team and filled them in on why I am coming and that I am interested in the Trimix. They agreed that injections would be a good option for me. They did say though that they start out with Alprostadil by itself instead of trimix. They did say I could discuss it further with the Dr. at my appt. though so I will start searching the threads here and see what I can find, I would love some feedback on Alprostadil vs trimix or the other injectables. Questioons, concerns etc I could ask in advance or at the appt. or specific information to consider would be appreciated.

Alprostadil?
Alprostadil?
Married, 57 years old, 10 years of ED, 240lbs Doing Keto Tried PGE-1 - poor results + mucho pain. Trimix at 12-1-10 (PAP/PHE/PGE) but had pain at 40 units I've recently tried bimix mediocre results, but no pain.
Re: Alprostadil?
Alprostadil/PGE-1/Mono-mix is often the starting point as it's the main ingredient in the tri-mix, etc. Starting there gives you more options to move on to if it loses effectiveness. Plus, why add more chemicals to the mix if they aren't needed. In some cases it might be cheaper. My pharmacy charges the same for mono-mix or tri-mix. The mono-mix works fine for me. My new uro usually prescribes tri-mix but as the mono-mix works fine for me he says why change what works. I agree. Give it a try.

alprostadil can cause pain in the penis.....sometimes bad. about 30% experience this according to what i;ve read. my uro started me on bimix, no alprotadil. i am now using trimix, low dose due to pain or higher scripts. it is getting much better so i am planning to up to 10mcg next refill.

Re: Alprostadil?
I've never had pain with Trimix directly. There often is, however, the satisfaction of a sore pecker and big grin...
Born 1948, wed 1969. BPH & Type II Diabetes at age 35. TURP-2002; ED even before that--diabetes. Cardiac valve surgery: 2007 & 2019. Poor results with pills. Started trimix injections in Nov, 2010. Great results from the very beginning.
Re: Alprostadil?
Yeah, I saw the posts about pain, so I was concerned about that. The horrible headaches with V sucked, back when it worked for me. an achy dick sounds horrible... I will ask her about it.. Oct. 12th is so far away...

What is trimix lo dose? The PGE! in my mix is 8.3MCG. The pain is almost unbearable. First injection by the URO was 30 units. I may try again with a lower injection amount. Just need a leather belt to bite down on for the pain.

Re: Alprostadil?
There is no pain like that kind of pain in the penis that I had with my first injection of PGE1/alprostadil. How any man could enjoy sex with pain and discomfort like that is beyond me and I told my urologist so. DUH
I dont know why urologist are so dead set on aprostadil injections before they will prescribe trimix. Maybe they dont have trimix on hand in their offices. But my injection with alprostadil was very painful for about three hours.
I have never had a follow up injection even though my urologist has given me a script for trimix.

They don't do that here in Canada.

Re: Alprostadil?
Jabo1,
Remember, the alprostadil works well for most. Don't get prematurely paranoid about it. It may just work great for you. Some doctors like to start you out on the basic so that you have something to move on to if it stops working well. It leaves you a backup plan. I did have some pain early on but certainly not at the level some here have reported. For me the pain issue eased off after awhile.
Good luck!
