The following issues were red flags for me when interviewing:
- Dr only uses one brand of implant and doesn't like the other brand.
Manufacturer's rep has to be present during surgery to provide the device.
Dr can't supply a list of satisfied patients that can be contacted by phone or email, especially if he says HIPAA regulations prevent it, that's BS.
Does he use infra-pubic technique when you want penoscrotal or vice-versa. There are reasons for the patient to prefer one over the other.

I said it before and I will say it again. I am in the medical field and I can tell you that if your doctor gives you references, either they are fake or he is breaking all the privacy laws. How would you like it if your doctors just gave out you contact info for references?. Now, I would ask him what size and brand he plans to use. If his answer is definitive, get up and leave. They have to have you on the table and opened up to properly measure you... and before anybody says anything, I got that info from Kramer and Eid's videos.

Perhaps it's different in Canada, but most of the US surgeons I interviewed offered references when asked. Kramer and Eid each have multi-page lists of references broken down into categories of patients, and I spoke with several of their patients. Dr Kramer even arranged for me to speak with a bicyclist who he had implanted since that is a concern of mine. The doctors who won't offer references are the exception and that's why it's a red flag for me.Larry10625 wrote: I am in the medical field and I can tell you that if your doctor gives you references, either they are fake or he is breaking all the privacy laws.

Dr Carrion did my revision this past April,, you are in good hands,, if he gives you the option to leave the hospital the same day, my advice is don't, try to stay overnight.
Ask for the keychain (imitation pump)and instructions for after care, do this before surgery.
You will be fine.

My doctor gave his satisfied patient my phone number and he called me. I think that takes care of the whole privacy/legal issue.

This was my experience with Dr Kramer also. He asked me if I would speak with a prospective implantee, and when
I agreed he gave me the guy's number and I called him. No privacy violation there.

Yup Dave, you're right, that would definitely work.

Yeah, Dave just explained one way it would work. I guess the other would be if the implantee was to sign a waiver. There may be some MINOR differences in policies between the US and CANADA but for the most part, all of that sort of stuff is true through out North America, especially Canada/US because there are lots of patients (legally) crossing the border for treatment that has been prearranged. I never asked my doctor for references. I was so intrigued about the whole thing, I was mesmerized and never thought to ask any questions. I told my doctor to do whatever he needed to do to fix me. He wouldn't know until he cut me open.

I didn't even know what a "prostate" was till cancer was discovered in it -- I had never even heard the word "prostate." And then when considering an implant, another thing I had never ever heard of. (But it all worked out!)
