Guys,
I’ve been inactive as late but if anything, things have got worse for me.
I’ll be seeking psychiatric support in coming days. Sadly it’s come to that.
Anyway, a question for you all.
I’ve had 3 ultrasound tests now; the first stating ‘mild venous leak’ and the other two stating no physical problem detected or NAD in medical lingo.
My question - when YOU had YOUR penile ultrasounds - were you told to self stimulate during the test or just lie there and see what happens?
I believe this instruction or lackthereof is critical in determining the result.
The first test with the result of VL I didn’t touch myself at all and I was the least stimulated one could be. The following two I touched myself with the third one being specifically instructed to do so.
Just wondering about your experiences because I think this could potentially lead to a lot of false negatives.
The Penile Doppler Ultrasound Test
The Penile Doppler Ultrasound Test
37, mild to moderate ED since age 21, 3 Dopplers - 1 result VL & 3 later results 'no physical problem', dependent on cialis (efficacy now waning), overcame Lymophoma at age 26, ED causing immense/profound psychological distress. Considering implant.
Re: The Penile Doppler Ultrasound Test
Just as an addendum - those 3 tests have been over the space of years.

Re: The Penile Doppler Ultrasound Test
When I had my Penile Doppler Test I was instructed to lay back in the table with my hands at my sides and be still. The injection is used to determine blood flow. It seems to me any self-stimulation would interfere with, not help the results because your actions could be redirecting blood flow. If your motions caused less blood to stay get to or stay in your penis, it would prevent accurate results. This is my opinion, with no medical basis to back it up.
I also think it would help in the cases where it is determined there is not a blood flow problem that further testing, including psychological, may need to be performed to get to the cause of the erection issues.
Good luck to you.
Greg

I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

Re: The Penile Doppler Ultrasound Test
Hello Difiant, at my doppler test I was reclining semi laying down. Nothing said about stimulating myself. In my opinin the shot given is strong enough that it would result in an erection even without any self touching or visual stimulation. In my case it caused maybe 5%. The results confirmed my ED as lack of blood flow.

Re: The Penile Doppler Ultrasound Test
i presume they gave you a shot in the penis ?
Did you get erect with the shot ?
If no erection, then you have a significant issue, otherwise, if the shot works, then I can understand why they want to postpone the implant.

That's the only test they did on me. They injected me with some trimix and told me to play with myself, when the erection I got wasn't all that great, they booked me for an implant... thank God.

So the two tests I received a negative result with no VL active, I was instructed to self stimulate. Both times, I didn’t get the best of erections at all. It would come and then go. But still they said the blood flow was adequate.
The first one I wasn’t told to stimulate and I barely managed a 1/4 let alone a semi.
The rationale for being told to stimulate was that in the real world, you will be stimulated. They reasoned that they wanted maximum stimulation and I quote if they could have 20 women in there arousing me then all the better.
So you see; there appears to be huge divergence in Doppler protocol. For F sake!!

Re: The Penile Doppler Ultrasound Test
Defiant,
During my Doppler I was laying flat on my back, no stimulation and the results showed a 40% Leak. Thank God it turned out that way. Since I was 30 the only way I could get an erection was flat on my back. If the results had come back without a leakit would have been a shame not to have me move around. Probably just sitting up or standing would have made the induced erection go away. Come to think of it, it did. They certainly could do more during the test to help guys like us.

Yeah they all gave me the shot in the penis.
I’ll always remember the first one though, where I was diagnosed with VL.
I left the hospital and for an hour or two after I was erect as f***!
Another flaw in the ultrasound protocol. If no result within expected time frame, ask patient to wait.

I was instructed to play with myself. My doppler test showed I had good blood inflow. Another test was ordered to confirm venous leak. Where are you located?
