What would you suggest?

hallfighter4 wrote:How bad is your ED? Can you masturbate to a full, sustainable erection -- put another way, do you only get ED when you are with a partner? Or is your ED consistent in all situations? Do you ever wake up with boners? Can you still get hard enough to penetrate?
If you want to "cure" your ED then you need to identify the underlying cause. Blood tests can identify hormonal problems that might cause ED (your doctor might order something like a "Men's Wellness Test" which checks various hormones, lipids, etc). Penile Doppler Ultrasounds can assess blood flow in and out of the penis and also identify physical abnormalities such as scar tissue/plaque.
Also, you mentioned the use of supplements. Some guys are convinced supplements like horny goat weed or maca are the real deal. But IMO these are the guys who don't have ED so the supplements just have a placebo effect for them. I tried tongkat ali for a while and it didn't do anything for me. Same with those dumb "Libido Max" type products you see in pharmacies sometimes. After that, I made up my mind to only go for proven treatments that are backed by the medical field. I'm not saying that there's no supplement in existence that might help you, but personally, I didn't want to bother wasting my time and money anymore.
note: edited my post to fix grammar mistakes and add a bit about supplements

Thanks for the detailed reply. Honestly, I haven't been with anyone since I first started suffering from ED (too worried of being embarrassed) but I can still masturbate. However, I never get 100% hard. Only half erect and it gets better near climax, but not by much (and it doesn't last long). Every once in a while (very rarely) I get morning wood, but it passes as soon as I pee. I seem to be able to get hard (mostly) after 1-2 weeks without orgasm, but then it goes away after a few hours or a day.
These are my symptoms exactly.Montreal123 wrote:The only supplement I tried so far is L-arginine, but it had no effect. Like you mentioned, I went to the doctor in the hopes that he would run tests to figure out the cause for my ED and help me find a cure, but he pretty much told me there's nothing I can do. I'll try to go see a different doctor, but I don't know if that will help. It kind of seems like the more research I do, the less options there are.
You are right, by far most ED treatments are symptomatic. They temporarily help you achieve erections, but they do not address the underlying cause of the ED.
However, if you give me a minute I'll share the links to some stories that you may find helpful.
hallfighter4 wrote:Okay so you indicated in your original post you weren't sure if the issue is medical or mental. You also said erections seem to improve when you don't orgasm for a while. If your ED is psychogenic, then IMO the NoFap program will almost certainly cure you (google it if you've never heard of it). I find this young man's story particularly encouraging: https://www.yourbrainonporn.com/age-22-ed-cured-80-days. Keep in mind this program is slow and could take many months to work.
If you go on to find that you have some incurable form of organic ED then the inflatable penile implant seems to be a good solution for a lot of men, even young men. Here are links to stories I found helpful.
User caddyman from an online health forum had venous leak by birth and got an implant sometime in his late 20s/early 30s. He reports back in multiple posts indicating he is happy.

Another guy named Colin with congenital venous leak who got an implant at age 20. This is a "feel good" video about his story.

Colin was on this site years ago and you can search for his posts - his username is "minnesota."
FrankTalk user Cnidium was in a bad car crash that left him with permanent ED. He went for the implant at age 27 and seems to be having a great time. His story is here.

Some other young, implanted users on Frank Talk that you could search for: ED2013, merrix, geophd (doesn't have an implant as of now but has some really insightful posts worth reading), dustyknox, tomford .
Okay, so I realize this turned into a post completely about implants which is probably not what you wanted to hear. Some men have bad experiences with implants and you need to consider that too because the surgery is irreversible. I admit that I am biased because I want one. So do your own research. You should find the underlying cause of your ED and treat it if you can. But if you find that your ED is in fact permanent then the implant is there for you. The idea that there are "no options" out there is, thankfully, not true.
