How to keep it private?
Re: How to keep it private?
I need to say up front I only briefly skimmed the comments on this thread. However, I'd like to add a few comments to this whole concern of nobody knowing you have an implant.
Remember when Viagra first became available? You were probably more nervous asking your doctor about that than you were proposing to your wife (if you're married of course) or even more apprehensive than you were of the cop walking up to your car after you were pulled over going 80 in a 50mph zone. Now, Viagra is a total non issue for the most part. For many men it helped with a problem most people now accept exists for millions of men. No more late night talk show hosts make jokes about it anymore.
Why should an implant be ANY different? I recently gave all three of my adult offspring (2 sons, 1 daughter), both daughters in law and one son in law a letter detailing my implant journey. My daughter thought I was joking. I've been known all my life for a weird sense of humor I should add in her defense. I told all of them I'm open to any questions they have. My oldest son who is only 35 told me about issues he was having. In his case, an SSRI med he was taking for anxiety issues was the culprit. My daughter I later learned had questions she asked of my wife. I understand how a daughter couldn't ask her father about his sexual issues.
The point being is I took steps to make my implant a non issue in my life. It was painless to reveal and I'm sure they all now have a better grasp of the reason for my much happier outlook all the time. I see it as no different than a prosthetic limb replacement which anybody can accept the need for.
I'm not criticizing anyone who wants to keep it completely private. I understand the concept of not wanting anybody up in your personal business. I personally found it to be liberating to reveal. It's an admission my body wasn't perfect and I needed a medical intervention to solve a horrible problem. This attitude has led to an incredible opportunity I'm embarking on traveling around to share my story at men's health seminars. My implant manufacturer just contracted me to speak at these events. I have no hesitation to be the face of implants, no hesitation at all. Implants will never become a non issue until men who have therm are willing to speak up about it and educate people about them.

Re: How to keep it private?
I will tell any one i have one. I encourage ant man I talk of he starts having problems get to a dr and start thge conversation.
Everyone men and women need to drop the old school bs of not talking about sex and problems associated with it. Maybe if we did there would be more research, more funding and not the bs the insurance companies do.
It seem to be ok to change your God given gender but not fix what you give

Great replies and thank you. I am very very uncomfortable talking about this face to face. I don't know how or even if I can change that. So for now I have less stress not talking to others around me. Thing is if the surgery goes bad and everyone knows does that not just have a bad effect on the ones that know also?

Yup, all three of my daughters and their significant others all know the whole story about me and I am not the least bit ashamed or embarrassed.

I have had a vasectomy and the lining of my left testicle removed. I have had surgery with a catheter. That part of it does not bother me. I just have trouble talking about my ed face to face with folks.
I guess that is why Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors. Folks are just different. If I could have talked about it easily face to face with folks I wouldn't have waited 10 years to do something about it.
So far I have had no tests. Only one 5 second exam by my male uro.
