Get a second opinion. Go to another urologist that specializes in ED. Implants work but it changes a lot of things. Once it is done there is no chance of having nocturnal erections or spontaneous ones. 62 yrs old prostate surgery and radiation therapy afterwards. I had no choice. Explore another opportunity by seeking another doctor and analyze what advice they give you.

My thoughts:

Erectile dysfunction is not a disease or a disorder. It is the SYMPTOM of a disease or disorder.

Step 1 in the treatment of ED is to identify the underlying cause. Perhaps treating the cause can alleviate (at least some of) the ED. A thorough (and I mean thorough) physical examination, including a Blood Chemistry Profile, should be the very first thing anyone does. At the same time, a good Internist or a urologist can have a conversation with the patient about the timing, frequency, and occasion of the ED. For example, if you can get an erection watching porn but not in the sack with your lady, there's something going on in your brain. Don't be "ashamed" to see a psychologist.

The PROCESS is as important as anything. Start with the least invasive and move toward the more invasive remedies. That's just good medicine, no matter the ailment or the symptoms thereof. I think you would want to try everything before having a heart transplant. Likewise, try everything before taking a sharp knife to your favorite body part. That process need not take a long time: certainly not years and years.

Don't be satisfied with a half-ass solution. If Viagra or Trimix or pumping gives you a 10 minute erection, that's not really a satisfactory outcome, is it? Don't hesitate to move to the next step, all the way up to and including an implant. Sticking a needle in my dick was not something I looked forward to, but it sure as hell beat a permanent case of the limps. And I remain happy that I haven't had to move on to an implant. But if injections ever stop working, I'll be knocking on the surgeon's door the next day.

As I moved through the various available remedies, my ongoing mantra was "This is not an acceptable outcome." Make sure your doc(s) are on the same page. It helped, I think, that my internist, cardiologist, and urologist are all young men (forty-somethings) who could grasp the significance of not being able to have sex. And they all ask, even after 7 years, "How are those injections working?"

Finally, notice that I haven't mentioned age. I don't think that's a factor in how you go about solving this. Just my opinion.
All the best. Hard times in 2018!

Your post is very good. No need to worry that it is a duplicate. There are many topics that are and need to be duplicated. There are too many posts to read them all, also new members may have new viewpoints on topics.

Keep posting, you have great insight.

Thanks to everyone for the support. I truly appreciate it. I also appreciate you taking the time to advise me on my journey to recovery. Right now I'm trying the NoFap challenge to see if that works. If not, I'll move on to something else. Onward and upward (pun intended).
27. Montreal, Canada. Suffering from ED for a few years. Went to see a urologist. He told me they stopped trying to treat ED and my only hope is Viagra/Cialis. Looking for a cure (if one exists) instead of just a quick fix (viagra/cialis).

Hey Freddy; What he meant is that he accidentally posted the exact same post twice, one right after the other. It's all good, I deleted the duplicate. :)

Thanks, Larry. I have "edit" and "quote", but not delete. No biggie. I just need to pay more attention to what I'm doing. Thanks for all that you do.

OK, I have more buttons than the rest of the members because of being moderator... for example "warn". Maybe delete is another??? :)
