Pain Med Supply

I've read about so many men using different quantities of pain meds. Some take them for one day some for a week. Roughly how much of a supply did you get from your doctor? Also, did you get enough of a supply for cycling purposes.

I had already been seeing a pain management specialist for years before ever planning for my implant. Upon discharge from surgery, my urologist/surgeon gave me a scrip for more than enough oxycodone... probably at least a two-week supply. But my pain specialist had me under contract that ALL pain meds would come through him. and that he'd never allow me to remain in pain. Called him on a Saturday and he returned my call within a minute of my leaving a message. He didn't want me to take the oxycodone so he added an extra two-week supply of the morphine I was already taking. Honesty, I never needed the extra. My pain from the implant was never that bad.

Standard now for almost any surgery is 10 days.

Since it sounds like the standard supply of pain meds is 10 days what do guys take when they are cycling?

I don't recall how many days worth of pills I got, but I remember my doctor telling me I would only need to take them for the first day, and that Advil would suffice after that. I didn't believe him but that's exactly how it was. As for cycling, I have been too aggressive at times and it has caused moderate pain, but then I just reduce how much I pump and it's not an issue. You should wait to heal before aggressively pumping and then it shouldn't be an issue. I'm just over 4 months and can pump up quite a bit but I still don't pump up to max but I'm getting there.

I ran into problems filling the prescriptions for the pain meds. If your doctor is out of state like mine was, my local pharmacy would not fill the prescriptions. Two weeks ahead of time I arranged to pickup the meds when I arrived in NYC for the procedure. Then the NYC pharmacy wouldn't fill one of the prescriptions because an approval was missing. So the day before my procedure the doctor had to personally call the pharmacy to get it straightened out. I ended up requesting and getting a double quantity of all the meds since I couldn't get a refill if needed when I got home.

Moral of the story is there can be problems and delays in getting the pain meds. Plan ahead and expect the worst.
A 10 day supply should be more than enough.

My surgeon prescribed enough for 7 days post-op and I had it filed at hospital on way out . I used full dose first 2 days then reduced to half dose for 2 days then Tylenol as needed. Added note, I had 2 surgeries at same time- implant and bladder sling for incontintence which may have added to degree of pain.

OR fill the prescriptions before leaving the state and get them to phone in refills or have it done through your family doctor.

Yeah, that's the dilemma I was trying to describe. The local pharmacies won't accept a prescription (for opioid pain meds) from a doctor in a different state, whether it be via telephone, script, or electronically. Not sure if this is a state or federal law.
