Well the worst part so far was waking up. I am good. Cath is a bit uncomfortable but not enough for pain meds. Not really any wtf stuff yet. But this is just day one. AMS LGX 21 with 1 RTE. MS pump. Thanks for the kind words. I'm going to rest a bit.

Did you insist on the LGX or did Kramer?
If it was Kramer what was his reasoning?

After he made his exam yesterday he said he would use the LGX and it seems he found no reason during surgery to change his mind. I just trusted his judgement. I did not ask for a reason.

Sounds like the fit was very good with only 1cm RTE required.

What was the experience like? Did you talk to him after?

They hit me pretty hard to put me under. I have had 5 surgeries. This ranks 3 on the list for worst recovery from being knocked out. I hope to talk to him more when I have recovered a bit more.

I need to ask about the RTE. He may of said he just used one as in not stacking them. I will ask to confirm the size of the RTE.

I came in early and everyone was great. When it came time a guy came in and put a healthy size syringe of something in my IV and said it would make relaxed. Then he started to wheel me out and said I would feel it soon. I did and said so and the next thing I remember is 2 guys standing beside my bed telling me to breath deep. I remember smiling and the mask being adjusted so it fit and one guy saying good bye and I was out again. I was still pretty out of it when I talked to Dr. Kramer in recovery. He gave me my AMS paperwork with my practice pump.

His nurse just came in and removed the cath. Man am I feeling better today. Cath removal was no big deal at all. Nurse said she was at my surgery and thought the RTE was 2cm. I'll need to check with doc. They are getting me ready to leave. They put some long like blood pressure cuffs on my calfs. They cycled all night. At 4am they said my temp was creeping up and gave me a breathing thing to inhale from 10 times an hour. Still doing the breathing thing and my temp is down. Cuffs are off. Just waiting for coffee and Doc and I go back to the hotel. Finally had my puter plugged in so I could post a bit more. Hitting me a bit hard to put me under was the worst part. I think it caused me to wear the calf cuffs and breathing trouble. Coffee just arrived.

Ok, I drank my one cup. Just want to ad that the only pain med I used so far was Tylenol last night at bed time. Dr. Kramer said his goal was that I would be pain free laying down or reclining. And over the counter pain meds would control pain from movement. I am not pain free but it is minor and I am ok with it. I will use the pain to limit activity for a while.

Congratulations for being brave getting this done. I worry about anesthesia as well, the last time I was under, I flatlined twice.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and then get ready for the "hard" work ahead of you. But if you enjoy your work, is it really work?

The cuff on your legs were to prevent blood clots in your legs. The breathing thing was to keep fluid from building up in your lungs from in activity. Had the same thing on my hip surgery and that was a local and spinal
