Just Papaverine Injections?

Postby young_and_impotent » Tue Jun 05, 2018 11:10 am

What is the efficacy of just papaverine injections? What are the risks? I had read papaverine causes fibrosis which leads to peyronie's. So how safe is it?

Unfortunately my uro doesn't know about trimix.

Either train your doctor or find another one.

And yeah, i'd be hesitant about using straight papaverine.

How can he advise you what is best if he doesn't know about the treatments out there? I agree, I would find someone who is up on current treatments.

As you stated. I didn't bookmark the papers I read but IIRC single drug injections of papaverine or phentolamine create increased risk of fibrosis. Single drug use prostaglandin/alprostadil was not thought to have that risk but more recent studies have shown an increased risk with that drug also, but less than the other two. I believe the tri-mix combination is thought to contain less risk than either of the first two alone and are more effective. I still think the prostaglandin by itself has less risk. Of course the prostaglandin/alprostadil has an increased risk of pain with some men.

Off hand I can't produce studies to back up the above post so take it as you wish.

My doctor prescribed me mixture of mix of papaverine 17.5, chlorpromazin 1.923, atropine 0.23. Is it also dangerous?

The substitution of Phentolamine with an equal amount
of Chlopromazine as an alpha-blocker in vasoactive
cocktails used for intracavernous injection therapy for
the treatment of erectile dysfunction

Chlorpromazine’s psychiatric profile is what made this medication a natural subject in the investigation of its efficiency in the management of Erectile Dysfunction, surprisingly substantial data has proved that it is very effective in managing Erectile Dysfunction and reducing the side effects from Phentolamine. You can also combine it with other treatment agents to form even more powerful medications.

Is papaverine 17.5, chlorpromazin 1.923, atropine 0.23 different from trimix?

Two of the chemicals sound different.

Yeah, that's not your normal tri-mix. Based on the abstract, cited by dotcom, it appears the chlorpromazin is an acceptable substitute for phentolamine, at least in S. Africa where it appears it's no longer available. Atropine seems to be a standard component of quad-mix but not usually found in a tri-mix formula. Alprostadil(PGE) is normally a component of tri-mix but usually not found in bi-mix which is usually papaverine and phentolamine with the alprostadil omitted due to the pain it causes with some men. So what it sounds like is you basically have is the standard quad-mix with the alprostadil omitted and the phentolamine replaced with chlorpromazin.

I bet that didn't make a bit of sense. Bottom line is, yeah that mix is a bit unusual but I guess it's not too "out there". Also bear in mind that I don't know shit and I'm just posting wild speculation based on my own self delusion that I'm smart enough to understand any of this.

On my first visit to doctor, he first injected some other mixture , and it was really hurting (maybe it was Alprostadil?) during and after injection. So, he changed something in the mixture and what I have doesn't hurt. Also it works.
My worry was post above regarding fibrosis.
