I started taking pills roughly 20 years ago when then first came out while I was in my early 20’s. They worked well for a while but not always and I moved onto the VED and rings. Hated the VED method and stopped altogether. I didn’t know about the injections or the implants and pretty much gave up and remained single for the better part of 15 years. If I had known about the implants then I would have tried the injections and had the ultrasound done to check for the VL that was found this year.
My suggestion is to stay on the path to trying all of the treatments.. pills, VED/rings, injections, and if this don’t work you are now left with the descion have an implant or not. If I could go back and give myself some advice it would be to keep looking for a solution until my dick worked. I will never get those years back and will always feel I missed out on opportunities to enjoy life and be more confident in my day to day.
Just having he doctor tell me the VL was so bad he didn’t think injections would work lifted a huge weight off my shoulders.
Good luck!

Re: Why I might want to wait
Hello Baseballfan11, have you tried a VED (Vacuum Erection Device) yet? The VED has helped many guys. You and your partner have to work around the "mechanics" of using one, but it usually helps. At your age I would try everything else, before getting an implant. The vast majority of us with implants are happy, but we had nothing to lose. The longer you can reasonably wait the better, who knows what medication or treatments may be developed in the future. Personally, I wouldn't wait years if nothing helps at all! But you have to accept that once implanted any hope for restoring a natural erection is lost. Give it a lot of thought, it's a major decision. I feel bad for you that you or anyone has to deal with ED so young! You can receive a lot of encouragement here. Knowing that there is hope can help you deal with it now. Best wishes. VegasED

Hey buddy... you know my thoughts on this... I would be butting to the front of the implant line if I was your age and was not getting a satisfying erection. As the years go by, you can't get them back. How many great orgasms are you willing to give up in the hopes that science finds a cure or a better treatment for the number one pain in the ass for men..ED??

Larry, your advise is usually right on. BUT, here these guys should not be racing in to an implant till they look at the alternatives. I would suggest they look at all the alternatives at FULL SPEED AHEAD, and find out if they do NEED an implant. Baseball is complaining about a soft erection. With me that was my situation before PC. 2.5 mg of Cialis only on the day I wanted sex solved that problem. There is nothing like a natural erection especially if you are dating.

I am completely confused by your post. It sounds look me you are disappointed about your doc telling you it’s not time yet for an implant. But where in the tell does amputating your dick fit into your ED?
Did the doc say you aren’t ready because you have not tried almthe other alternatives or because he says you’re is functions well as if is? It is standard practice totry everything else first and you should be happy to do that. If something works and you can have natural erections, that would be great.
When we have been in touch before I have mentioned I think there are many urologists who don’t specialize in male sexual dysfunction and may not understand the best way to help you. If you ever get that impression, seek out a doctor with those qualifications.
Hang in there. I know it is frustrating, but you have to keep at it until
You get the help you need.

No no Greg, I meant that my dick could be so badly botched by bad implant surgery that they'd need to amputate my dick so I didn't get infected. I appreciate your response though. To everyone else, the doctor didn't say I had venous leak. I would be willing to take that test again though with a new doc I'm not sure.
26 years old. USA. ED problem since teenage years. Doctor prescribed ED meds showing some efficacy but not a guarantee. As much as I’d like the implant I now think I should hold off if I’m seeing some results from pills

The chance of amputation due to botched surgery is so remote it should not even be a factor. So your doc didn’t say you had a VL, but did he say you did not? Until you get full clarity on what the issue is it will be difficult to know how best to treat it.

Yup, agreed. I know his story a lot more than the others because we have been chatting. Pills don't really work for him and he is very uncomfortable trying the needle. I don't really understand why everyone is so anti-implant for the young guys. If they had their leg blown off in combat, would people be asking the doctor not to shape the stump? Teeth pulled and replaced with implants, etc. I know those are not exactly the same but a lot of these guys are in a very severe depression due to their age and ED and there is a treatment out their that is the next best thing to the real deal and people are trying to talk them out of it. We all know that someday, there very well may be a cure for ED but how many years are these poor kids suppose to wait, to find out, without doing something definitive? How do we know that when they find the cure, it won't matter if you had an implant...
