I posted my complicated story down here; I suspect (or: I am convinced) that a soft-laser treatment against prostatitis (which has been promised to be mild and non-invasive) caused moderate ED and a lots of following trouble. This treatment was in December 15.
Now I read in newspaper all the horror stories about the Post-Propecia-Syndrome.
My timeline is as follows: In March 15 I took Proepcia 1mg, but only for 30 days and then stopped it. I felt no effect at all. Libido and erectile function were normal the following months. Then, in December 15, I did this laser therapy, and ED occured within 5 days. This was 2 1/2 years ago, ED remained, but slightly got better meanwhile with 2,5mg Cialis daily, ESWT and tons of L Arginine....
So my only suspect for the ED was (because of the time relation) this laser treamtment so far, I didnt even think that my short term Propecia use could be a potencial reason; I even forgot that I took it. BUT, after reading the stories: Could also be Propecia a potencial cause? Or is that very unlikely, because I took it only 30 days and the ED came suddely 9 months later (after the last pill) and I had no effects before?

Propecia-ED effects 9 month after taking the last pill?
44 y, moderate ED after laser treatment against prostatitis. Searching for the exact reason to get a reference point for a proper treatment. Urologists could not help. My story: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9644
Re: Propecia-ED effects 9 month after taking the last pill?
The answer is probably not regarding the drug since your ED came so many months later.
If there had been an onset during the time you were taking the med then yes it could be a contributing factor.
Some side effects of finasteride may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:
More Common Side Effects
Decreased interest in sexual intercourse
inability to have or keep an erection
loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
Sorry you’re having to deal with this issue.
I’m betting based on what you’ve described so far that you developed a venous leak.
You need to have a duplex penile ultrasound to verify.

Re: Propecia-ED effects 9 month after taking the last pill?
hello etguy,
thanks for answer! well, I had 3 duplex ultrasounds, and none of them showed VL... the last result was:
"Duplex Sonographie of Penis: Result (> 35 cm/sec, EDV < 5 cm/sec, RI > 0.8). EDV (> 5 cm/sec) and RI (< 0.8) normal."
And since I have so strong and long lasting morning woods - I think its no way VL....
My theory is that the laser destroyed some (but not all) of my nerves, so ist goes slower up and slower down...

Oh, ok I did not realize you were having morning erections as that wasn’t mentioned in the original post.
So, having those numbers on your ultrasound is great.
If you are having good and lasting morning erections, to me, that would rule out nerve damage! If it were true nerve damage, to the point it is facilitating ED, then nothing changes the nerves good or bad just because it’s morning!
I’m a proponent of ESWT and have also had those treatments, along with PShot.
For me those really enhanced my erections. Then for whatever reason, I developed VL!
I hope you haven’t “convinced” yourself of something that’s not really there with the nerve damage. I don’t think an EMG on your penis would effectively demonstrate any nerve damage. Do you have any numb spots on your penis?
Sorry that this has come on you. I hope you find an answer that will fix the problem.

Hello ET,
so you know what might have caused your ED?
The Priapus shot is the last non-invasive thing I have not tried yet...does it really make a difference?
Well the crucial thing is that erectile nerves not really can be detected, not even with an EMG.
The truth is, even the science has not really found out yet how they exactly work together to make an erection happen. The neurovascular bundle conists of thousands of different nerve straints, and my belief is, if you interfear even in the balance of some of these nerves it can have a tremendous devastating effect for the whole process...like when only one chip is not working in your computer...
Probably I ll never find out what really happend to me ;(
meanwhile I try to make things better.
I experiment now a bit with high frequency therapy, which claims to help the regeneration nerves and I take as a supplement a lot of feverfew...
Never never never never never never never give up, Winston Churchill said.
So I don't.

Re: Propecia-ED effects 9 month after taking the last pill?
No I do not know what caused mine for sure
I just finished reading an article that it maybe low T. The article cited a study that took men with VL and low T and gave them THRT. When their testosterone levels got into high normal range the ED went away. The thought was that testosterone effects the smooth muscle in penis. With low T the smooth muscle doesn’t react as it should to erection process where they make the venous side close as the corpra fills with blood.
In 2016 I was found to have low T. I got pellets injected in butt. My T got in the 900-1000 range. Rock hard erections! The pellets last 4-5 months then need replaced. I did second round of implant.
Then I read that THRT makes the body stop producing T naturally and that’s not good!
I did not get pellets again when due!
I started slowly having the ED problem. No issues for weeks then one day no erection or couldn’t sustain erection. After a few days everything worked, then it didn’t.
I had my Labs drawn and my T was 233, the low end of normal.
Now I’m thinking this low T may have some correlation, at least in my situation. My inflow numbers on ultrasound are 44 and 45 which he said was great.
I’m going to each out to my doctor and see if he wants me to start replacement therapy again. If it works there’s the answer. If it doesn’t then we can move forward with penis implant.

Re: Propecia-ED effects 9 month after taking the last pill?
well perhaps I have a suggestion. one of my docs in germany recommended me to test injections called "Brevactid" and "Menogon". they stimulate the body to produce own testosteron, but doesent replace it with the side effects you mentioned. i didnt take it, cause my testosterone levels are quite normal, but perhaps its worth a try?

Thanks I’ll look into those drugs. Good luck on your journey.
