Regarding the ice pack: I agree that frozen peas are a great idea since it will contour well , HOWEVER, as warrenw states:

It is true that the street next to the Bentley is loud and for some new yorker reason, cars will sit on that road and just honk there horns -- yup, they just sit in traffic and honk their horns (especially at seven in the morning since it is rush hour).

this did not bother me too much, I just chalked it up to the new york experience -- sort of an initiation right of passage

I printed out Tangerine's packing list and it served me well for my stay at the Bentley. I had a 7th floor corner room and it was quiet.

Couple more things:

Be sure your room as a "do not disturb" sign for those two days in bed after the procedure. I had to ask for a sign from the front desk.

You may want a bathrobe to wear for room service deliveries, and I brought one. The Bentley had them available in the closet.

If you fly in for surgery, request a wheelchair for the return flight. You will have decreased waiting in security lines and save a lot of walking to the boarding gates. You don’t want to walk any more than you have to the first few days.

The problem with hotel ice chunks is that is does NOT contour well... in order for it to work well, it needs to contour well. I suggest popcorn or dried beans... they don't chunk up from being frozen and thawed over and over again.

How far is the Bently located from the hosp where Dr. Eid does surgery? I am only staying one night before surgery so I guess I am closer if I stay at Affinia Gardens just across the street.

regarding NYC hotel review for affinia gardens versus bentley:
I have stayed at both bently and affinia gardens.
I think the affinia gardens is the better place to stay for the following reasons:

1) it is across the street from the manhattan eye and ear---that is really good for you
2) the rooms have a fridge with freezer and they are good at giving you ice.
3) the in room kitchen(stove, sink, fridge) is really convenient since you can save money on having things delivered
4) the room I had was large and had a sit down table where I could have breakfast
5) they seem used to patients since lots of people stay there from manhattan eye/ear
6) I do not think they have in hotel room service for food ?

Regarding the bently:
1) it is a fine place to stay, room service for breakfast was great (but no service after ten AM)
2) traffic was a little loud and the windows were a little thin
3) it is farther from restaurants and grocery stores (by a few blocks)
4) the room has no fridge and no stove (ie, it is just a hotel room). (they will give you a mini fridge if you want, but that was almost worthless.

My wife felt the affinia gardens was far better than the bentley. Personally, I thought they were both great, but, if money is not the issue, go with the affinia gardens.

PS: by the way, affinia gardens underwent a big upgrade last year, so i do not think that the 2017 remarks on the room and bathroom quality apply. I stayed there four months ago, and it was a solid 3+ stars, and maybe even four stars. Clean and comfortable with nice bed.

What about hotels near Dr. Andrew Kramer practice Chesapeake Urology in Baltimore? I have prepared everything and I am mentally ready to undergo surgery but I am not sure which hotel to stay at. They gave me a list of options (partner hotels) which can be seen attached. However, I am not sure which one to pick from them. I googled to check their rooms, how clean and comfortable and roomy they are, how clean the bathrooms are (very important), if the bathroom offers bathtub for warm baths, etc but I can't make up my mind. Any recommendations?

Regards the Affinia Gardens: any current pricing for surgery patients?

For the Bring List, coffee drinkers check out Starbucks (others?) VIA product. instant coffee in a convenient packet. Cheaper by the box on amazon.
