Re: Urologist won’t prescribe me trimix
My GP trusted my judgement for some reason. I think he was amused.
Did your GP have you do a trial injection with them?[/quote]

Is this where you went?
Yes. I was referred by my cardiologist. I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. A very positive experiance.
Married 42 years. Heart attack at 58. Stented. CAD. Heart meds along with the CAD are raising hell with Willy's willingness to come out and play. Sildenafil works, but with annoying side effects. We're having a VERY enjoyable experience with Trimix!

No and my Uro who initially wrote the script for Edex (he retired) didn't do a trial either. Just gave me the script and left me to figure it out on my own at home. While I liked my Uro I think he failed me on that one. Most will do an in office test injection, as they should. My GP figured correctly that I already pretty much knew what I was doing as I'd been on the Edex for a good while.
Initially my insurance covered Edex/Caverject but only to the tune of about 4 per month. I don't recall the co-pay. Then they quit covering it altogether. Thank goodness for the compounded mono-mix, which I consider very cheap.
For some reason my new Uro will only prescribe tri-mix and only from one pharmacy in the Tampa area that I've never dealt with. I haven't worried about it as by the time I got the new Uro I'd already had trained my GP and also her replacement after she left. I've never tried tri-mix. The mono-mix works just fine for me so why should I?

How much did you pay for your mono mix at the compound pharmacy. I think I paid $85 for 20MCG/ML

I believe it's $120 for 10, 1ml vials at 80mcg per ml. In other words $120 for 10ml @ 80mcg per ml. I like that it comes in the 10, 1ml vials as I keep them in the back of the freezer except the one I'm using which I keep in the front of the freezer. The one in the front is usually liquid when I pull it out. The ones in the back stay in frozen form. I guess the saline it's in makes it hard to freeze solid.

I'm in the Tampa Bay Area and my uro referred me to Lincoln Court Pharmacy in Clearwater but said I could try any compounding pharmacy I wanted to. I called them about my script 40/30/1 and they gave me a quote for $125 for 10ml(5 - 2ml vials) and I didn't think that was bad so I went with them. It was nice dealing with them and I think they offer free local delivery. One of the pharmacists came down to talk to me about using Trimix and had it packaged in a nice bubble wrap padded bag that had an ice pack in it and gave me his personal cell number and told me to call if I had any issues.

That's a good price. I pay about $75 for 2 2-ml vials.
I get a discount when I buy the second one. I'm not sure if I get more discount if I order more than 2 at a time.

ED worsened over 25 years, likely VL. Went through pills and injections, and results faded over time. Implant AMS 700CX, 21 cm, no RTE, on 6/3/24.
