I recently heard about this and I'm looking for some real information. There's a lot of mixed information on the web and even doing a search on this site is confusing. I have a basic understanding of how its supposed to work, but finding real information on results is difficult.
I'm currently on the pump. It does work, but honestly its a bit of a pain. My only other alternative is an implant. But that will have to wait another year until I'm on medicare.
If this wave therapy can help me get natural erections back, I'd much prefer that to putting artificial parts in my body.
So has anybody here tried Wave therapy? What were the results? How much did it cost?
Wave Therapy?
Wave Therapy?
Developed ED after Heart attack and by-pass in 2000. Used pills for years, but they don't work anymore. Shots don't work. Used a VED for several years. AMS 700 LGX installed 8-7-19.
Re: Wave Therapy?
I’ve had the shock wave therapy. At the time I was also, doing THRT as my testosterone was in the tank.
The shock wave therapy made a huge difference for me! I’m not saying it will for everyone as no one responds exactly the same to any treatment. As with anything in medical therapies, results from studies are in a bell curve regarding outcomes. There are outliers on the ends of the bell. One end the non responders or negative outcomes. The othe end the group that measured outstanding results and the majority that had positive results in the middle of the bell.
The clinic where I got the pellet implants also had me using a VED to stretch penis and fill corpra with fresh blood. My erections got to be amazing! This was all in 2016.
Now however, about six months ago I began having issues. I had also stopped the T pellets about six months prior.
I went to my urologist and he put me on Cialis and had me continue to pump.
This had minimal results after six weeks. We had a penile ultrasound done. Injected me with Trimix for erection before the study. But it never got fully erect!
Ultrasound revealed something very positive that I attribute to the shockwave therapy.
My inflow into my corpra was double what he normally sees in men. He said I should have fantastic erections. The issue is venous leak! Blood fills fast but leaks quickly. Thus weak erection....basically just thick penis.
I’ve been reading on VL. There’s a study comparing VL and testosterone levels. It was found that smooth muscle that closes the venous side and trap blood giving erection does not function properly with low testosterone. So I’m going back on T pellets to see if this fixes my issue. If not I will get an implant!
I believe in Shockwave therapy based on my results and the ultrasound numbers.
The cost is like $400 per treatment. Their are various treatment protocols, the minimum I’ve seen being six, up to 10. They are done twice weekly until selected regime is complete. Now, be careful as all shockwave is not the same. There are some Med Spas that are offering these treatments but they are using cheap Chinese knockoffs.
Hope this info helps. Good luck.

Diagnosed venous leak. Going with injections rather than implant for the time being.
Re: Wave Therapy?
ETGuy,
What do you or the doctor attribute the venous leak to other than the study you mentioned? I've heard VL is a misnomer but it's been a while since I have read about it. I'm beginning to think that could be my issue. I'm ticking all the boxes but no real improvement in ED.
Any chance the shockwave therapy could have induced the ED?
Can you direct me to that study?
Thanks Savoie

Re: Wave Therapy?
This must be something somewhat new - heard about it on radio shows over the last few months. Guys in their 40s/50s talk about it, along with testosterone deficiencies. Skeptical about both.

Hi Savoie.
Here you go.....
ISRN Endocrinology

Journal of Andrology, Nov/Dec 2008, 29(6), "Testosterone Improves Erectile Function in Hypogonadal Patients With Venous Leakage"
I hope this helps.
I’ve also read about VL being a catch all excuse. I do not think the shockwave had any part of the venous leak.
As a side note I did have venous issues in both legs. The vascular surgeon ablated both of my great saphenous veins shut because the valves were shot and not functioning. Now is that a precursor to me having venous issue in penis. No one knows.
But I do know I had low T and got pellets implanted. I also know I experienced positive results from shockwave treatments. The decline of firm erections started months after I stopped getting the T pellets and my testosterone finally bottomed out!
It seems like a logical conclusion that for me testosterone levels and functioning of smooth muscle in my penis to close giving me a good sustainable erection correlates to the findings of the studies of men with VL.
So, I’m going back on THRT as soon as possible.
Good luck to you on your journey!

Re: Wave Therapy?
Thank you for sending the study ETGuy, it looks interesting. It's also interesting I have venous insufficiency of the saphenous vein in the left leg and had it removed. I'll have to look and see if there is any correlation between saphenous insufficiency of the left and ED.
I will be seeing a doctor recommended hear and I hope he will get to the bottom of this quickly.
I appreciate your story and information you provided, it's a real help!

Re: Wave Therapy?
I just bought a shockwave machine and will be giving myself treatments. I will document the progress on my blog:

ETGuy what was the name of your machine? They have one here in London I might look into. Hoping I'm on the positive end of that bell curve!
42yr, ED from mid 20s. Currently trailing Invicorp. Single dose of 0.35 ml contains 25 mcg Aviptadil and 2mg Phentolamine. First injection gave 4 hour erection with half standard dose placing me at risk of priapism. Help!
Re: Wave Therapy?
Sorry I don’t know the name of machine at the clinic.
