swelling

Postby SURFTRAVELER » Fri Mar 30, 2012 2:08 pm

I had surgery day before yesterday. Not much pain now that I'm home laying in my recliner with an ice bag. But I have a set of bull balls. How long before the swelling goes down? I did learn one important fact be careful about what type of car you ride home in. My wife picked me up in her little BMW Z4 sportscar. It was kind of like riding a jackhammer home.

Surftravler, you are one of the fortunate ones! Just kidding - I was like you for about 2 weeks; even with frozen peas and corn. You didn't mention the beautiful deep plum color. Hang in there, the swelling will go down.

Hey Man, congratulations on your new bionic toy! Tell me, what type did you get? LGX or Titan?

I was sore and hurting, bruised and swollen for up to a week. We all heal at different rates and our doctors work at different paces. Some are gentle and caring and some need to get back to the office for appointments and operate swiftly. In the end, hopefully, it all works out the same but we all have different healing rates.

Don't be afraid to use those pain killers. Ibuprofen worked wonders for me and I kept a bowl of ice water nearby and soaked a wet washcloth in it every 5 or 10 minutes, wrung it out and applied it all around the affected area. The ice bag was just too big and bulky and only touched one spot, but that's only a personal preference. By now you know what's right for you but do keep that ice going til swelling is down.

Days 4 and 5 were the worst with pain. So I pretty much stayed in bed those days and moaned a lot.

After the first week, I was up and about and back to my normal activities. Swelling had subsided but there was residual bruising for about 2 weeks.

It'll be interesting to hear how your first few weeks go. Congrats again and let us know how things work out.

LGX_Man

Everything is improving daily. More localized pain in testicles where the pump is located. I like your idea about the cold wash cloth. The ice bag doesn't fit well in some areas.

Hi Surftraveler --

I'm a few weeks ahead of you with a 22cm Titan, no RTE's. I think its definitely YMMV, but for me the swelling was basically gone, as was the slight bruising, by day 14 or so. I found that warm baths really helped a lot, though I should point out that my Dr, Eid, specifically does the sutures in a watertight manner to allow for warm baths. For me, Advil plus 2-3 warm baths per day kept discomfort in both my penis as well as the scrotum well in check.

I read in your earlier posts you were planning on an LGX with Dr Milam, but now ended up with a Titan. If you're willing to share, did you still use Dr Milam? And, what caused you to switch from LGX to Titan? Also, what size Titan? And, any RTE's?

I'm going for my "activation" on Thursday, the 5th. However, I've been experimenting a little before hand. I can tell you that it feels fine to inflate up to a point. But, well before maxing out it hurts a lot at this point. Probably too early though to be maxing it out. The pain pills didn't agree with me, but the two times I got close to maxing it out I definitely was wanting a pain pill. I'm a little apprehensive about the discomfort during activation, since the pain pills make me very very nauseated. I hope it doesn't get to that point!

Best of luck to you.

Please translate "RTE" and "YMMV".

Thanks,

RTE = "rear tip extender" It is an addon to the implant cylinder to adjust for in between sizes (eg Titans come in standard size increments of 2cm and LGX/CX in 3cm increments). This way the size can be fine tuned to within .5cm. Also, for large penises when the largest available size implant is used, RTE's can expand the size further. If they measure the cavernosa at 23 cm, the standard size Titan smaller than this is 22cm, so they would add a 1cm RTE to round up to 23. The standard size LGX and CX is 21cm, so they would add a 2cm RTE to round up to 23cm. I might add Dr Eid told me he prefers to avoid RTEs if possible, and so with the Titan he prefers to select the next larger size and manually trim the proximal end down to size. I think this is different from the way most surgeons do it.

YMMV = "your mileage may vary", or in other words, everyone is different and one persons experience may not translate to another

I was concerned about girth with the LGX and also concerned about things I had read suggesting LGX was not recommended for penis sizes over 7 inches. I attempted to contact Dr. Milam or Todd on several occasions to get additional information. No one ever returned my calls. This lack of response only increased my concern. I had also contacted both Coloplast and AMS for information. I received some good information from Coloplast and developed more confidence in their product. Ultimately selected Dr. Christine in Birmingham, Alabama (he teaches implant surgical techniques in the US and Australia). So far I have been happy with my decision but time will tell.
