Newbie needs injection advice before Dr. appt.

Postby SteveSW » Sun Sep 30, 2018 5:12 pm

Going to see Uro in a few days for injection consult. Viagra no longer has much affect, so until I can get an implant, is this the next logical step for a guy with a serious case of Peyronie's? I have read a variety of posts on FT, and opinions on which drug, strength etc., seem to vary widely. What should I ask for? I really appreciate your help! Steve

Injections may offer a good result in many but not all men. Peyronies is a distinct problem. With the right mediation mix injection therapy may serve you well. Injections will, of course, have no effect on any curvature you might have. Ask your doc about the effect of injecting near or at the site of any plaque you might have.

I do not have any significant curve. My ED is from an entirely different problem. I have used injection therapy to achieve a satisfactory erection. There is a hassle factor one has to live with. Carrying around needles, medication is a nuisance and elimintes spontaneity.

Still, the end result may be entirely satisfactory. You may need to experiment a bit to achieve the coect dose and mixture. Good luck!

I'm fairly new to injections but here's what I've learned so far. My insurance paid for Edex, aka Muse, Caverject, Impulse, Alprostadil, Prostaglandin,PGE1. It came in a 2-dose package and the medicine has to be mixed before use. My dose was 20mcg. For some it works famously. For me it was ineffective and left me with a sensation of a raging hardon for a couple/ few hours but no boner. It's also crazy expensive. On my next Uro visit I will ask for Trimix. It contains a lower concentration of Alprostadil with Papaverine and Phentolamine. Not only is it less expensive but from various posts it looks to be more effective. The hitch seems to be that some Uros don't like to prescribe it, you'll most likely have to pay for it(you'll most likely be money ahead even then) and you need to find a compounding pharmacy to mix it up.
Good luck.

Alfa,
Thank you. From what I have been able discern, I'm leaning Trimix for the reasons you mentioned. However, I really like the ease and convenience of Caverject, but their website states it shouldn't be used with a "deformed" penis. Not sure a Peyronie's curve counts as deformed. Have to see where I wind up with doc and insurance. Thanks Alfa.
