I am 66. I had bladder cancer and my bladder and prostate were removed in June of 2017. I can now get an erection with pills and injections. It is not always usable for penetration, but sometimes it is. My wife and I do have a very good sex life. My worry is that I have lost about an inch and 1/2 since the operation. I was about 6 inches. I am fearful that it will keep getting smaller and I wonder if an implant might prevent that. That being said, I don't have much wiggle room, size wise. I have an appointment with a Dr. about implants next month, but I don't know much about the types of implants either. Can any of you give me any insights.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: I need advice
I was worried about loss as well, I was 5.5" before my implant. My pre-op Dr. said I could loose an inch . But the 5.5 I had didn't work so I thought about it and felt that 4.5" that works is better then 10" that doesn't, so went for it. Very glad I did!!! Right after the surgery I had about 4.5", but now, 4 months out, I am real close to my 5.5" . I did loose one inch of girth though, was 6.5+" now I'm 5.5" in girth. BUT IT WORKS NOW!!! I also gained 2.5" in flaccid length, 1" to 3.5+" , which I am really enjoying. Go for it, you won't be sorry.

Steve,
Like you I lost a lot of length following my Prostatectomy. I was implanted with an AMS LGX 13 months ago and my penis size is now back to my lifelong size prior to that size loss. It was 4.5” before the implant and is now just shy of 6.5” when fully pumped. I added pix recently here in the Implant Pix thread.

I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

I also got the AMS LGX. Did originally lose about 3/4" but have now regained all of it plus 1/4" so far of girth. If you do nothing, you will continue to lose length and girth due to atrophy.

Re: I need advice
Of you haven’t started already, use a ved to help regain size.
Re: I need advice
Use a VED in between use of pills to keep length and blood flow. If I could get any kind of an erection with pills, I would never get an implant. Nothing beats a natural engorged dick. These rods are not the same. Not the same feel and not the same orgazims.

Re: I need advice
Most convenient it is essential to have daily erections to maintain penile elasticity size and General Health . Usually this is by natural causes, but in men with erectile dysfunction process can be emulated by the use of a vacuum erection device
On this forum there are several mentions of some medical journal studies documenting this.
Here is one

While researching implants and searching for a surgeon I pumped for about 30 minutes twice per day and did not lose any length or girth that I could tell (from when i started pumping, not from my youth). I did this for over a year. The sooner you start, the more you get to keep.

Re: I need advice
Thanks for your responses. I really appreciate it.
Now I would like to ask which type of implant is best or at least what the pros and cons are. Do DRs. typically go with one over the other?

Re: I need advice
Some docs only install one brand. Some install both. The coloplast gets harder. The ams has a more natural flaccid. You’re doing a good job asking questions. There’s a ton of info on this board.
Re: I need advice
I was 2.5 years between RP and my first implant. My dick seemed to just get smaller and smaller (atrophy, I think), although I had it regularly "vacuumed" by young professional women. While my (3rd) implanted dick is smaller than I'd like (5" length, 5" girth), I sure do have a lot of fun with it.
