He prescribed that first BM can be pretty bad if its hanging around for too long. and if the catheter gives you any problems like mine i felt like i was pissing through a bent straw. called Dr. Eid he told me to take it out day two i did no problem. the next 48 hours will be over soon and you will be up and moving more cycling by Saturday good luck stay positive.

Post op Day 2:
Slept quite well last night. No narcotics today with minimal pain. Just taking Tylenol and Motrin today. I suspect this may change once I'm more active and start cycling. I was concerned about constipation from the narcs but that has proven not to be a problem. My bowels are actually moving a little too good this evening so I'm stopping the stool softeners. Everything is still bandaged up and haven't even looked down there yet.
Tomorrow morning will remove catheter before heading to airport to fly home. Once at home will go for my first hot bath and start exploring.

You might consider leaving the catheter in for the flight home, depending on how long the flight is. I had a 5+ hour flight and the catheter was a major convenience on the plane, never having to get up and go to the head. I easily pulled it out at home that night, but I experienced considerable urinary urgency for about 24 hours after removing it. That would have been a problem on the plane. TSA didn't alert to the catheter or bag on my leg. I was able to activate the next day (day 4) in a hot shower, never did the tub thing, just showers and heating pad.

Sounds like you are doing fine, just follow the post-op instructions from Dr Eid. I never had to return for any followup visits, it all just worked.

Warren,
Thanks for the advice, that’s not a bad idea. I think I’ll do that. So you didn’t say anything to TSA and just went straight through? My flight is in the morning and it’s less than an hour so I’ll be home early afternoon. Then I can deal with this catheter at home. It’s good to hear your case went well. I’m hoping for the same!

I think I had some medical paperwork with me but I said nothing to TSA, just walked through the scanner as usual, although I did mostly empty the urine bag beforehand. Dr Eid discharged me for travel with the catheter in and all went well all the way home. There was so little swelling that I could pretty easily feel the parts of the pump the next day in the shower. So I experimented with it and could release/pump with no problem, then increased more pumps everyday.

For what its worth I removed my catheter on day twofer Dr. Eids instructions due to the discomfort. His only concern was that I was voiding normally with it out. The minute I removed it I was fine no drips no problems and a lot more comfort. I had a five hour ride home after that and stopped once for a restroom break

I opted to keep it in as it hasn’t caused me any discomfort. One hour flight home and navigating the airports were no problem. Just walking a little slow and funny. Had a disposable ice pack with me and put it in my pants on the plane.
I’ll take this catheter out when I get home. I’m hoping that won’t be a painful event.

Do you know how to remove the catheter?? It's not as simple as yank on it. :)

It’s a bit funny taking it out but not painful surprising how long it is but oh what a relief to pee on your own. When your in the tub at first use a wash cloth to hold everything in place when you first pump it greatly reduces the chance of a slip causing the pump to go flying into one on the neighbors. Things are still quite sensitive at day three but the master plumber Dr. Eid makes a very small incision and there isn’t much swelling. Go slow the first few days the scrotum needs to toughen up that takes a while.
