Just ordered some 30 unit syringes

Postby Bob1974 » Wed Jan 02, 2019 10:41 am

I just ordered some BD Ultra-Fine U-100 Insulin Syringes 31 guage 3/10 cc 5/16" box of 90 for $19.94 plus $3.95 shipping making my total $23.89 from adwdiabetes.com. Seemed like a good deal as I think I paid about $30 for my BD 100 unit 31 guage 5/16" box of 100 from Walmart and it was a hassle.

Why was it a hassle? Also, I thought that everyone was saying that you need 1/2" needles?? :)

I had a hard time buying those syringes at my local Walmart pharmacy. Even though it is completely legal to buy syringes without a prescription here in Florida their store policy requires a script like insulin to get them. They treated and looked at me as if I was a junkie high on drugs for asking to buy syringes. I had to have my urologist office call in a prescription just to buy them. My belief is that 1/2" long needles are too long for most guys unless you are well endowed, don't put it in all the way or using an automatic injection device with them which allows you to set the desired depth of the injection.

That was pretty much my experience also, at Walmart and CVX. The Publix pharmacist I went to thought it was silly when I told him. He said those tiny insulin syringes aren't the ones used by druggies.

I agree totally with Bob's response on the 5/16 syringes.

OK, I will take your word for it. I didn't inject all that long because it burned going in and didn't help one little bit. I don't remember what I used so the info I know about is from you guys on FT who inject. Happy New Years :)

Sitting in an epic conference call, so I thought I'd weigh in here:

First: I tried 5/16" syringes and found that the Trimix didn't get deep enough into my penis - the bolus of fluid seemed to stay somewhere close to the surface. I don't really know why I even tried it, except I was feeling a little wussy... ;0

Second: Insulin syringes are OTC here in WA too, and I got similar resistance from my local pharmacy. Here's the thing: opiate addiction is beyond epidemic in the U.S., and the use of IV-injected drugs with insulin syringes is not only worsening the problem but is killing our neighbors. So... for my money: having a MD call in a script should be no big deal. I think my RiteAid's policy is a good one.

IMHO...
