Need Advice on Surgeon in AL/TN Region

Postby spinal13 » Sat Jan 05, 2019 11:48 am

Hello,

I am new to this board. I live in North Alabama and am in the process of scheduling an implant. The local urologist did a total of 10 implants last year, needless to say, I am looking for a high volume urologist in my area. I am located halfway between Nashville and Birmingham.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to Dr. Dean Knoll in Nashville vs. Dr. Brian Christine in Birmingham?

Thanks.

How far are you from Snellville, Georgia? I was implanted by Dr. Hakky of Advanced Urology and he was great. I believe he does over 200/year

P.S. first post on the forum and as a younger guy (below 30) - hope I can help others

I don't want to derail this thread but, youngwithED, do you fancy telling us your story?

There are a few younger guys here (I'm one) and it's so valuable to hear about life post implant.
I shall say no more and stay out of this thread! Best to both of you.

Snellville is about 4 hours, slightly further but definitely doable. I will add him to my list to check out.

Thanks. I'm glad to hear that it worked out well for you.

I have talked with Dr Christine. He has an option on his website to talk to him for a nominal fee, I did that. If I remember right he does about 250 implants a year. He is 55 years old and has a lot of experience. Dr Christine was trained by Dr Knoll. I tried to talk to Dr Knoll but he does not do phone consults. I live in Atlanta and did not want to Drive to Nashville without talking to him first. I am having a revision next week. I will be using Dr Christine.

Dr Hakky did my original implant and first revision. He is a good surgeon and I would recommend him. I have had some complications and thought it would not hurt to have someone else to take a look.
