Conscious during implant surgery?
Re: Conscious during implant surgery?
I could watch my own being done live. I've seen my video enough it would not bother me to be awake or watch another one live. I do not hear well so I am not a lot for conversation. Just make like I am asleep and all would be good for me.
Injections failed. Implanted 3-21-18 AMS 700 LGX 21 + 1 RTE 100 cc reservoir 6.5" L 5" G Dr. Kramer.

Awake during implant surgery? I'm not sure what I would do, but I did have Prostate Arterial Embolization procedure done while I was sedated. A nurse inserted a catheter, shaved and scrubbed the area before the doctor did the procedure.
The difference would be that 'thing' being worked on and the tugging to put it in. The PAE procedure took a couple of hours so the implant is a lot shorter time.
I probably would if the surgeon wanted to do it that way.

I had the spinal for, I think, my first implant in 1995. The main thing I remember about it is that it seemed strange to not feel anything when major surgery was being performed in such a sensitive area. If you want to be awake and talk to people, go for it. Your mind will be a bit hazy during this time, but you are aware enough to know what's going on. Recovery was a piece of cake - the easiest recovery of my three implant surgeries. That was the only time I was left completely inflated during healing.
I'm 75 and got an AMS Ultrex in 1995. Had it replaced in 1999. Got a new AMS 700 LGX in 2013.

Just had surgery last MO with Eid. Had a spinal which worried me. You are IV’ed in the OR. I looked over at the anesthesiologist and asked for 10-15 mg of Valium. He said no problem. I was semi conscious thru the entire procedure and it was a breeze. Just get a little extra Valium to chill you out. I would repeat the entire experience in a heartbeat. No negative pain or memories during the procedure.
