I looked in to both ways and from a mechanical stand point the way that Dr. Eid does his surgery is the only way to get the optimum result as far as healing time is concerned. Not positive but I think Karpman teaches inflation at 1 week & clears for sex at 3 weeks. I strongly suspect several doctors use dates very similar to Eid. Btw, I'm fairly sure that they all give the warning to stop if pain is present.
