Get the biopsy, it was painless for me. No guarantees it will show the cancer but the ultrasound they use to direct the needles may see something to direct them.
My doctor waited too long for me, suggesting a wait and see, and after the results came in he said it was worse then he thought. Removed my prostate and the still had some cancer , so I had 37 radiation treatments.
There are many options if it does show up if caught early, wait and see, external beam, seeds and removal of prostate. Good luck Jim :D

Go for the biopsy and get two opinions on the results. Have them put you to sleep.
A good friend in his late 60's had only one opinion and it was wrong. While on active surveillance the cancer spread outside the prostate and now he is on Lupron ( medical castration) for the rest of his life. Sex life is gone!
Age 80 good health. Radiation prostate 28 hits 4 years ago with 6 months of horrible ADT. Good recovery and ED worse.
Can't tolerate oral drugs but 5 years of Alprostadil 40mcg/ml 25 units is a miracle for 3 hours. GF is happy!!

I had three biopsys over a couple of years. I was awake for all three. I see no reason to be put under. Yeah, the 3rd time they found cancer.

You may be suffering of prostatitis, which may lead to urinary track infection, a treatment with antibiotics will help.

FYI, I suffered the same symptoms for many years and they donot necessary indicate you have cancer, check with your doctor and be on top of your results.

Very important, drink a lot of water, I know it sounds crazy but it will actually help to maintain your bladder free of bacteria and avoid potential infections, avoid caffeine and alcohol.

Dave Kell, if you have a high PSA, don't mess around with a random biopsy. It is old medicine. Get a MRI guided biopsy. The MRI identifies the suspect spots and the computer guided biopsy machine takes the sample. The Doc just hits the sample button. Random is just a crap shoot.

My doc took me off testosterone injections due to my cancer.

Tomas1, The study many doctors refer to about T and PC only included 3 people. Read Dr Mulhall, he is a penil rehab dr. He says cancer feeds on T up to 250. Having to over 250 T has no effect on the growth of cancer. The fact that you were only Gleason 6 and 80 yr old why deal with the side effects. Enjoy life while it is here.

Yes, skip the miserable 12 needle and go to the MRI guided. I had the twelve needle and it was inconclusive. I thought I was out of the woods. I had a MRI guided a year later and had two cancerous tumors on each side of the prostate, had them treated with HIFU in May.
53 years old, tumors both sides of prostate treated with HIFU May 2019 current ED using cialis and viagra not very effective, recently divorced concerned on trying to move forward with ED issue

Since I stopped the T shots, I've basically felt like shit to put it mildly.
I've lost both strength and stamina.
I told my wife I feel 5 years older or maybe this is how it feels to be 81?
Also my libido has totally disappeared. I told my wife that had I felt this way, I wouldn't have got the implant.
Also when I play golf, all my clubs have lost around 15 yards. Makes it difficult to chose the right club.

Long story short, I'd rather take my chances on prostate cancer increasing than live this way.
My family doctor even mentioned a shot to totally kill testosterone. I said that sounds like chemical castration, but he said not.
I started taking the shots again today and hope to get back to my old self.
