You are definitely not crazy. Look at all your options. An implant is just one of them. If I looked back to hard i would have to want to get very upset with a doc who prescribed me viagra without doing any tests. If the tests had been done he would have found out I had a severe venous leak. Blood going in and out to fast. He would not have just said your getting older take the viagra.

Trying to have sex with a semi. Guess what. You tend to bend the penis causing peyronies. Then what happens. Hourglassing. Then plaque. Then shrinkage. So no, do not look back. What can you change. Not one thing. Find a good doc. Get good tests. Make sure they tell you all your options. Good and bad.
