It takes me about a minute to inflate for sex. That's 20-30 pumps depending on how full I get each one.
Sometimes I wait until the wife is ready after using her vibrator and my fingers to get off once then inflate. Sometimes I inflate while I'm waiting on her to come to bed.

RoninRiff wrote:I have noticed a wide variation in the number of pumps required for one bionic brother to another to inflate for sex. It seems anywhere from 15 to 70-80 and more. This may depend on volume of cylinders, type of pump and pumping technique. Another way to ask it from a practical standpoint is how long does it typically take to pump up for sex? Not so much for cycling which may require more pumps and more time. But how many seconds/minutes does it take to pump up for a typical sexual encounter?

It depends on many factors.

1.
If you want to get erect stealthily (either not "throwing it in your partner's face") or without your partner knowing you have in implant) it will take some time if you want to go from flaccid to erect. This applies to all the following scenarios to a greater or lesser degree, depending. In stealth mode, a minute or three. If you just do it without trying to hide it, less than a minute in my experience with my implant and my pump.

2.
If you start from semi-erect and have some way of distracting your partner from what one or the other of your hands are doing when finishing the inflating (oral sex is the most common/popular suggestion for this subterfuge, but massage or excusing yourself to use the bathroom are also recommended. The time to finish inflating is pretty quick if you are already partly erect.

3.
With certain underwear (compression shorts or control undergarments -think "spanks for men", which is a real product) you might be able to have an erection sufficient for satisfactory penetration without additional pumping. So the time from that state to sex would be zero.

I took my stopwatch and made some experimental runs at inflation. Three runs and the time to each state averaged. Total time from start to finish was between at 95 to 112 seconds.

State 1: Completely flaccid, as deflated as I could possibly get.

State 2: Incipient. Easily concealable and passable as a normal penis with just a little tumescence-the beginning of an erection.

State 3: Tumescent: Slight bulge in pants, Discernable in most pants, but not completely obvious.

State 4: Semi-hard. Enough for penetration with a willing partner, but not "That thing is going to split me like a melon." hard. Just about perfect for fellatio.

State 5: Inflated to the point where more pumping does not increase rigidity. Penis is unbending with any sex imaginable (absent someone putting full body weight on it.)

State 1 to 2 15 seconds Flaccid to just the beginning of an erection. A normal state

State 2 to 3 15 seconds Tumescent - a woman could feel it if in a slow dance with and I pressed into her. But easily bent.

State 3 to 4 30 seconds Semi-erect Visible "printing" in most trousers. Just barely rigid enough for penetration, certainly enough for fellatio.

State 4 to 5 45-60 seconds (sometimes requires switching hands because one hand gets tired,) Yeah, baby! Climb on to this tower of power!

So, I figure, to go stealthily from halfway between state 3 and 4 to halfway between state 4 and 5 (enough to go from appearing to a woman to be simply aroused to having sex without her noticing that you are pumping up, you only have to sneak about 30 seconds of pumping. Now 30 seconds may sound short, but if she is eager, you are going to have to resort to some subterfuge. Depart for the toilet, perform cunnilingus, turn your back while undressing, etc.

You should have a full erection with 24 pumps if you have the bigger MS pump. If you have a Titan which is a smaller pump it might take a few more, but 80 is ridiculous. I have an eight inch and I perfectly hard and happy with 22 pumps, and my girth is 5.7 in.

RayChez, I agree with you 70-80 times is a big number compared to 6-10 for people who have the same pump model.
It could be that the pump is still hard, and the person is not pumping wall to wall, but I do not think it could be a (leakage) issue. If leak is the case, the reservoir will run out of saline in less than a month of cycling, and no erection will happen.
I started by 50-70 pumps, but realized that I wasn't squeezing the pump hardly. Now, I am pumping 25-30 times to get a still erection.

If the leakage is inside the valve, allowing fluid to leak back into the reservoir, there would be no fluid loss. Then the question becomes, "How is it that pumping up is possible if the fluid is flowing from implant to reservoir?" I speculate the answer to that would be that the valve only leaks (backflows) during the squeeze of the bulb and if the user squeezes (and releases) quickly, he can get ahead of the backflow.

That speculation might also account for the vast difference in the count of squeezes reported by many men.
