You name it - I've been prescribed it. None worked GREAT and ALL had some side effect. The pills mainly (I've had them all). The flushing; the contraindication with meal or alcohol, were just a royal PITA.

I had the same issue. A 100 dose of viagra gave me a semi. Kept having sex. Eventually just broke my dick and peyronies showed up with a an almost 90 degree curve.

Should have just got the implant and skipped viagra. Caused me horrible issues. Should sue the drug company making it for my injury.

The classic trajectory to implant is pills -> trimix -> implant. Sometime VED/constriction rings are in there, sometimes not.

But that ISN’T a requirement. If you aren’t interested in trying injections or find the lack of spontaneity a deal breaker (you are already in that situation now needing to take pills and wait for them to kick in) then it’s time for an implant.

I find a good cockring is really helpful. I’m not talking about a constriction ring used with a medical VED, just a good cockring from a decent sex shop. I suspect it helps keep the blood that flows into my cock from escaping as quickly.

Having an implant will allow you to have a hardon of whatever rigidity you want, whenever you want, for as long as you want. That sounds much better than the situation you are in now. If you felt like you have exhausted the other options (cock rings, VED, injections) then it’s time for an implant.

I also used pills for 10 years and the last two were a continual disaster! Injections have worked for the most part for 16 months and just had first Dr visit for implant. My insurance does cover implant and does not require any tests or proof of anything, except the Dr telling them it’s a common cause which relates to a large list of things like blood pressure diabetes or a bunch of other causes. Also if your doing cash option($17,000) by my Dr I’m guessing he wouldn’t turn you down anyway… other insurances might require a specific cause.. it boils down to your decision. I’m way past ready for this step as it’s been very depressing dealing with ED for over 11 years and ready to put it behind me with the only cure for ED.
