I had issues (picked the wrong surgeon for the first... Once I found my current surgeon it has been a breeze. Think positive thoughts. I still feel it was the best decision I ever made. Life changing.

You are setting yourself for your torture. But SO worth it!

I could have had a happy closing of my life without erections and without sex. But I knew my quality of life would be better with than without. So, I revealed to my doctor that I had erectile dysfunction ( much to my embarrassment). He was sympathetic and prescribed oral medications which worked for several years.

Even though I did not have a steady sexual partner, this was gratifying for me and the women i was with.

When the pills began to fail, I researched other treatments.

I discovered that implants were the "final frontier" and pretty reliable and decided the risk was worth the quality of life
benefit.

My primary care physician took me on as an equal partner in my medical care team and even told me that I knew more about ED and implants than HE did!

I did not hesitate to try for an implant and the only delay was for my efforts to find THE BEST implant surgeon available to me, and to begin pre-op therapeutic treatments to preserve my penis health and size.

Many men report moments or days of post-op doubt and second-guessing. I had not a bit of that. I had armed myself with knowledge. Knowledge dispels fear and doubt.

If you have doubt, read through my posts. Merrix's posts, Tangerine's posts. Arem yourself. "Gird your loins" (pun intended).

And remember. If you have nothing to lose (no erectile function at all right now), you have a great deal to gain.

Interesting read. Stories from all ranges of recovery. My dr. Says will be uncomfortable for 2 weeks. Leaves you inflated for 6 weeks @60%. No pain meds…no catheter, no drain. He does not mislead me but says uncomfortable not painful. I think he’ll be great. Everyone heals differently though. I’m prepared for weeks of uncomfortable but not agony.

Anyone agree. Thanks for sharing experiences?

Thanks for all the info and guidance. I could change my mind at any minute but forcing myself to go through with the surgery. I know it’s best in the long run. (So to speak).
But for now I thin I’ll remain high anxiety until surgery day..

Don't change your mind. I was a nervous wreck before my implant. That was only my second surgery ever, the first one at 3 years old I don't even remember. So basically my first surgery as a 68 year old adult. On top of that I had yet to find FT so my knowledge was minimal and I was too damn scared to search what I was getting myself into. My surgeon made all the decisions. As much as my healing was tough, I got over it. Now it is one of the things that makes life better. The wife is happy, I'm happy, and our sex life is pretty much back to normal. So nice after years of will this work tonight?

Same here: inexperienced surgeon first time, revision by very experienced implant surgeon here in Houston.
After revision, I could not be happier.
And, I also like more AMS CX compared to first which was Titan.

Its a big step. You will be glad you did it. Don't overthink it.

A question for you to ask Boston Scientific engineers: Is there a reason the pump bulb is stiff even after 15 months of near daily use? Why does it take 45-50 pumps to get rock hard?

I asked my implanting doc these questions and he had no clue. Other than that it works great. Wife and I love my new Peterbuilt.

I am perhaps unusual as far as recovery goes -- mine with Dr Eid was a total nothing burger! No swelling ,bruising or pain nearly immediately afterwards. I was cycling in 3 days and having sex in 3 weeks. Maybe I got very lucky but that's how it was for me.

I would not venture to have that definitive answer - I can say, that it is different for each person based on their physical dexterity; finger/hand strength (arthritis etc); and the force of the compression for each pump/cycle. Based on your description it sounds like a lot of pumps. Perhaps work with your surgeon/urologist to determine if there is something wrong.

Are you girthy? If you have a lot of girth it will take many more pumps.
