Does an implant wear out?

Yes, I had an AMS700CX implant installed in 03/1995. It developed a leak,I think it was in tubes going into the pump. All the fluid was lost. The only option was to replace the entire implant as there was no way to know where the leak is. Im now 4 weeks post op with a new AMS700LGX. However, I have a problem with the new implant due to peyronies D. I point 45 deg to the left and about 45 deg down. I'm Going to get that correctedin bout two months.

So you got 17 years of good use off the unit before that leak?

Yes 17 years 2 months. The ironic thing is I had been thinking how lucky I was that the implant was still working. Then one morning as I was trying to pump it up the pump bulb went flat it would not refill as all the liqmuid was lost.
It took 4 months to get everything ready for a revision. I wanted the Titan but doctor recommend the AMS LGX
Now it looks like I'll need some corrective surgery to make this implant more comfortable for the wife.
