I realize the original post is quite old now but there are recent replies.
The article does not say what the post title claims (“might be nonsense”).
The article says:
More study is needed
It’s difficult to separate out the effects of arterial insufficiency (poor flow IN to the penis) from venous leak (too much flow OUT).
Venous leak can be difficult to visualize with scans.
But no part of the article claims that venous leak is nonsense.
Venous Leaks Might Be Nonsense

55yo, NYC. ED started at 40. 50 units BiMix + Atropine (Pap 30/Phen 6/Atr 0.2). Prostaglandins caused aching. Doses increasing. A cock ring helps. Phallosan Forte tension devise to maintain size. Eager to talk about implant experiences.

The arterial system is a high pressure system. The venous system (by comparison) is a low pressure system. There are a number of reasons for this: the heart pumping forward is creating forward flow pressure (arterial side of things). The arterial system is a smaller volume system (same volume of fluid in a smaller tank equals higher pressure). And finally, every breath we take (expanding chest wall and pulling down the diaphragm) creates negative intrathoracic press that not only pulls air into the lungs but helps pull blood back towards the heart.
A cock-ring is not particularly tight so it has a significantly greater effect on slowing the (lower pressure) outflow of blood than the (comparatively higher pressure) in-flow of blood.
A constriction ring on the other hand (the super tight bands used in conjunction with a VED) allow very little flow in or out. That’s why they are so time limited (very little oxygenated blood flowing into the penis) where a regular cock ring is not time limited in the same way.

Is that explanation documented in any way or can you cite the origin of your knowledge? I hope so as I like it and it certainly makes sense to me and sounds logical.
