Anxiety before surgery

Having my surgery next week. I have a lot of anxiety about it. How did you deal with the anxiety before your operation? I keep talking myself in an out of it in my head.

With Versed "Midazolam". Joking sort of. I was super nervous the things that made it better were:

1) having a in depth conversation of what my alternatives were and what the prognosis would be.
2) The hospital staff made me feel comfortable and it made me relax.
3) Talking on the phone with implantees and hearing their sex stories was HUGE for me.
4) Drugs like I said I was sort of joking. Once I got back to the OR I thought I might legit leave lol then they hit me with the versed and Next thing I know their giving me anesthesia and I awake with the procedure behind me.

I appreciate everyone's advice. I had a bad experience with a TURP that resulted in blood clots in my bladder and additional surgery. I couldn't urinate for over 8 hours and was privileged to have had 8 caths, of increasing size, inserted during that time. They kept clogging due to blood clots. I think the trauma of all I went through with my TURP is making me more nervous about this. However, as others have noted, the alternative is to not have penetrative sex for the rest of my life. I'm definitely going to do this! Thanks for all your support.

Hope you can make a better decision after reading some of the posts here. Any surgery on that area of a male body is rough. My implant recovery was tough, I hurt for weeks. However, I just had TURP surgery and that was the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life. It was way worse than the implant surgery.
