I could always start sex, got natural erections just fine, keeping them was the hard part. I had to go fast or risk losing it. So glad i got it, taking your time, no mind games or worries, sooooo worth it. The orgasms are so much stronger post implant. I am a huge fan.

I sound like you. My only concern would be destroying a potentially reasonably healthy penis and the implant not working or something.
I would only ever consider it with a top surgeon so I assume the chance of ot destroying my penis would be low?
Different if it doesn't work at all so there nothing to lose.
Incidentally since you did not have full ED like me, did you lose any size?
I understand size loss is more due to not being able to use it prior to surgery?
Thanks.

In case you did not know this already (it has been addressed many times on this forum), using a VED (Vacuum Erection Device) therapeutically (not with constriction rings and not necessarily for sex) can prevent or minimize size loss, maintain elasticity and tissue health.

I am in the same situation and quite frankly, I just want to have a sense of normalcy. I am fed up of being constantly reminded of my ED, from the moment I get up in the morning (either no morning wood, or an erection which falls within 30 seconds of standing up), to being on a date and being preoccupied, even hours before the acts, about whether I will be able to achieve and maintain an erection. I want to be able to take my time, focus on my partner's pleasure, and not have a stuffy nose, an outrageous headache and a red face while I fuck and afterwards.

30 years old French with ED caused by priapism episodes at the age of 15. Pills have lost most of their potency, injections work but are painful and not a long-term solution. Scheduled for an AMS 700 CX on 05/12/2024.

I share your concern, but I think this has to be dealt with on a case-by-case basis, so that only you in the end can decide on what is best given your individual circumstances. It seems that even if the worst happens (infection, technical failure, tubing visible, poor fitting), there will always be the possibility to go for a corrective surgery, if needed with another surgeon (if you do not trust yours).
I have come to the conclusion that the bar for a "reasonably healthy penis" is higher than I originally thought, due to the fact that ED has followed me for my entire adult (and even teenage) life, which resulted in me somehow losing sense of what a "normal" erection should look like. Surely it would be unrealistic to expect raging, uncontrollable boners lasting several hours, with short refractory periods. But if you, like me, reach the stage where your spontaneous erections have virtually disappeared, where you cannot, after consuming the maximum prescribed dose of Cialis/Viagra, maintain an erection for at least say 20min, in particular with a condom, and when just of few drinks or a heavy meal leads to the failure of your erections, then I believe you are a prime candidate for an implant, regardless of your age.

If you go to a top surgeon they'll preserve what function you have and you should have the best of both worlds.
I apologize for posting a contradiction, but am compelled to apply this correction (at the risk of seeming argumentative, which is NOT my intent).
"If you go to a top surgeon, they'll preserve what function you have..."
Not true, unfortunately. The implantation of the implant tubes in a man's tunica albuginea displaces (sometimes destroys or involves the removal of) the corpus cavernosum tissue and the likely compromises the blood flow that supplies erections. In short, an implant forever renders a man incapable of natural erections for the rest of his life. There is one surgical technique (look up "tissue sparing") that attempts to preserve the cavernosum tissue, but this has limited success with retaining erectile function.
On your other point, "Having some function is maybe even worse than complete impotence because in a sense its a constant tease.", I TOTALLY agree!
When I first began to notice my E.D. it was;
For a LONG time I was plagued by the nagging anxiety of the questions, "Will I stay hard long enough to please her?" then,
"Will I stay hard enough to have an orgasm myself?",
"Will I get hard enough to even get inside her?"
and ultimately the near certainty,
"You will not even GET hard.". And that NEAR certainty was worse than a certainty.
Now that the anxiety of, "Will I stay hard?" is gone, (not to mention the anxiety in the back of HER mind, "Will HE stay hard long enough for me to have even ONE orgasm?") sex can be as carefree, spontaneous and playful as can be.
And during sex, I don't concentrate on keeping my erection. I am free to concentrate of making the most of an erection with staying power, concentrate on how it feels to her and concentrate on being the kind of considerate man IN BED as I try to be OUT OF BED that makes us (her and me) happy with each other.
Thanks for jumping in Lost Sheep, I have read many of yours posts here. I understand the irreversible consequences that an implant would have on my penis, but, as all the urologists that I have met have said, nothing will give me back my pre-ED implant. The technology to repair damages to erectile tissues does not currently exist, it is highly unlikely to ever be developed, and even if it was to be invented in say 20 years, I would have lost the lion's share of my sexual life, in particular the best years of it.

I didnt lose any size, if anything i gained some back, i am consistently .25 inches longer, ed took 3/4 over the years so depends on how you look at it, pre op vs post op +.25, now 10 years ago i was longer than i am now.
I get being worried about getting an implant, BUT!! Its not a big deal, you get tubes put where blood used to flow, your dick always works without the need for pills. There are some potential risks if your looking for perfect outcome, you feel tubing potentially, you can feel the pump, i am lean so i can feel the reservoir, but none of those negatives come close to the positive, a dick that just works. Such a load off your mind, its great.
And the mind set of ruining your dick is super low risk, the mechanics of it are simple. You would have to get super unlucky and get a bad infection to ruin it. 96% satisfaction rate, that includes all the crappy low volume docs, idiots that dont wait for sex/cycling etc…. This isnt a new thing and compared to breast implants and the like, a dick implant gets better satisfaction rates so???? Hard to find someone on this blog that ruined their dick and we have a biased towards the negative. Most people get implanted and you never hear from them, they’re just out banging and living life.

Sex is better now, there is no difference in feeling for me just going in and out, but the orgasms are much stronger post implant. Better than any other point in life. I have read other posts talking about “super orgasms” I don’t understand how that’s possible, glad i got them, but i dont think super orgasms are the normal outcome.

I could get a morning wood still, but couldn’t have penetrative sex. Needless to say decided on implant because my sex life was average to below average most of my life and most recent no sex life. I figured being in my low 40s I needed to maximize some of the best years of sex while I can. The quality of hotties drops off the older you get. I’ll deal with revisions when I need to. I say go for it based on your goals.
Thanks, your situation seems to be close to mine indeed. I will go for it, most likely with a French surgeon. What is your overall satisfaction of the implant so far?
I’m overall pretty satisfied. I no longer worry about performance and have had a few encounters that were successful where the ladies wanted to see me again.
The main downsides are that you have something extra in your sac. You also are an extreme shower so you have to manage it whether you go to the gym or what not. I usually wear a jockstrap with briefs over the jockstraps for workouts now. The other thing is if you go to the pool, you have to really be wary of it because it’s out there.
The other thing is having an implant is a tough thing to talk about with female partners. Eventually, you will have to come clean because in my experience a woman will jump you when you least expect it. Then what? Say you have to pee everytime?
I don’t think that will work long.
So, I’m pretty self concious about it mainly because us people with implants are maybe one in a thousand . It’s definitely a topic of discussion in your social circles.
What would rather ? Be known as the guy who can’t get it up or the guy who had a bad skiiing accident and didn’t have proper blood flow to the penis so you corrected a problem. I guess I’d rather go with the latter. Best of luck. Hope this helps.
